A man in Pittsburgh who was a die-hard Steelers fan died recently. So, how did his wife have him displayed at the funeral home.

Get this.....

She had him put in a recliner with a steelers blanket over his lap. A night-stand next to him with a 6-pack of beer and cigs on it. And a remote control in his hand with a small TV across from him playing Steelers highlights from over the years.

Now I consider myslef a Fins fan. I watch all the games. I buy merchandise. I go to games. But this is taking a "game" a little too far. People who name their kids after players. Or put their family second to "games". Or I dont' know.......when they die get laid out at a funeral home in this fashion are people who should be laughed at, mocked, and ridiculed. I've never seen a more perfect example of the word "LOSER" in my life!

Poor FinHeavenAJ, named after AJ Duhe, doesn't even know you think that him and his parents should be laughed at, mocked, ridiculed, and are setting the most perfect example of "loser" that you've ever seen in your life.

Nice post, MikeO.

Nice post, MikeO.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Can't reasonable people disagree in a reasonable fashion?

Just giving my thoughts.

Who's he hurting? Keep your value judgements to yourself. Judge not lest you be judged. I think those who cast judgement over a person's personal choice re: something as intimate as his burial are the real losers (Oops I guess I'm being judgemental  ).

:shakeno:
dont think your being reasonable when u say peeps shud laugh at the dead.
Even if he was a Steeler fan

When someone dies a funeral home with calling hours is so family and friends can come toghther, give a nice send-off, and remember the person they spent so much time with over the years in a dignified way.

When you want to be remembered as a guy who sat in a recliner, with beer, cigs, and a remote watching NFL football, I think theirs something seriously wrong with that. Is all you want to be remembered for is being a couch potato watching NFL?

Would a reasonable person ever write a sentence like this??

I don't think reasonable people laugh at, mock, ridicule, or consider someone a "loser" because they are passionate about a game that is all about passion and competition.

That's my point. Being passioate is one thing. I got no problem with passion. Being laid out in a funeral home on a recliner, with a TV, a remote in your hand with beer and cigs on a table next to you is another.

i agree with the thought but to go so far as to call him a loser isnt nice because you dont know if he put the steelers before everything else. if he did, and i agree is the most ubsurd thing i have ever heard, he should be ridiculed for doing so

..Wow one of the more sad posts I have ever saw!! If that man's passion and the focal point of his life is the Pittsburgh Steelers then why not??? How can you (laugh or ridicule) a man for having a deep passion for ANYTHING!!! I do agree putting anything before your family is not right, BUT if this man wants to be laid to rest who are you to judge how he does it???

..You are one of the more respected posters on here but this is crazy!!! Football is football your talking about laughing at how people live their life!! Thats out of line your paaions may lie elswhere but everyone is different...To call this guy a loser for having this done is immature...

..you know alot of people put there whole life and faith into religion live and die by the ways of the bible...and Im sure you wouldnt laugh at how they live there life...but you know what this guy sees the Steelers every sunday meanwhile billions of others are worshiping an invesable man in the sky.....

..Get off the guys back he's dead:shakeno:

However someone wants to be remembered, or someone wants to remember someone else is their choice and reasonable people let it go without passing horrible judgements against people they don't even personally know.

Who's he hurting and why do you feel the need to judge him and cast aspertions (Sp?)? If you ask me this is a classic case of defending against your own shadow.

Ahhhh.....we see most clearly in others what is most evident in ourselves...interesting point.
:)

Maybe he was a jerk and only cared about the Steelers and this was his wife's way of getting even?

Either way, I don't think a dead guy knows what's gonna happen to him when he's dead, so maybe hes not quite the loser you think he is.....

He might be rolling over in his (recliner) grave, because of what they did to him.
