It struck me the other day that there are a lot of ex-Dolphins on the other teams. While there is a perception by some that we struggle to find talent, maybe the bigger issue is that we draft the wrong players and in some cases we are too quick to cut and some of the talent is prospering on other teams.
A list of ex Dolphins includes:
Patriots - Wes Welker, Rob Ninkovitch, AJ Edds
Green Bay - Erik Waldren
49ers - Ted Ginn Jnr (1st round pick)
Houston - Jason Allen (1st round pick)
Redskins - John Beck (2nd round), Anthony Armstrong
Raiders - Samson Satele (2nd round), Derek Hagan (3rd round)
Ravens - Ricky Williams (2x 1st round)
Buffalo - Tyler Thigpen (5th round)
Jax - Matt Roth (2nd round)
St Louis - AJ Feeley (2nd round), Donnie Jones
Denver - Andre Goodman
Jets - Patrick Turner (3rd round)
Eagles - Ronnie Brown (1st round)
KC - Travis Daniels (5th round)
Carolina - Olindo Mare (cut after 9 seasons but 4 since and still can send the kickoffs out of the ground)
Arizona - Rex Hadnot (6th round)
Vikings - Fred Evans (6th round), Joe Berger, Greg Camarillo
Don't get me wrong. The front office made many good calls in cutting some of the players above. But there have been a lot of wasted draft picks and in some cases we let go of players who have taken their game to the next level on another team, eg Welker, Ninkovitch, Beck, Waldren, Vickerson, Aromashadu. Maybe that means that we are not real good at developing talent.
In contrast we have few current players that played elsewhere and then improved when they came to Miami - Fasano, Wake
Welcome your thoughts..
