I recently reached out to Jamar Taylor through a social media outlet. Was shocked to get a response. Just thought I'd share it with you guys.

I read this article on NFL.com and wanted to show my support to him.

My Message:

J.T...just read the article on NFL.com about how you thought about giving up. There are a whole lot of us that are praying for you. I know when you get your chance you are going to show the whole world what you can do! Keep your head up! -Life long Dolphins fan that lived in Boise for 10 years.

His response:

"People are taking the stuff out of context. I wasn't going to quit. It was a thought that every athlete goes through. I would never not play football. The point of the article was that I'm back 100% and ready to takeover. Thanks though"

I just thought you guys would like to hear that hes super motivated and determined to get the starting gig. Thought it was really cool he responded to me. Didn't expect that. I sure hope he is a long time member of the Phins because I got his jersey for my girlfriend so we can both sport my last name "Taylor" with relevance ;) Cant wait to see this kid play as his best.

I seriously doubt its a thought that every athlete goes through in their rookie season. I doubt Peyton thought about quitting in his rookie year. Im glad that he seemingly has manned up and wants to succeed. Hopefully he doesnt revert back to wanting to quit

pretty cool, also like hearing how he said it was taken out of context which means it probably was somewhat made up. GOod deal!

Kinda a dickish response but i could see why he would be upset. When you say something and it labels you a quitter it is hard to take but good he responded to you.

Yeah. Well it makes sense. He was talking to a small time reporter that works for the local newspaper in Boise...and then the big media hears about it and wants to blow it up into something its not.

I'm sure there were times when he got down on himself, but don't we all? This guy has an uphill battle to climb, and it was a lot harder on him in his rookie year because of his injury and missing all the off season program. That has to rattle your ego a bit - just entering the NFL and not performing at the highest level rattles these dudes egos....and JT didn't even get to play. That has to hurt.

This year he will get his chance though - and from the sound of it - he is going to make the most out of it! I'm excited to see him get his shot.

He said flat out he almost quit. Theres no other way to comprehend it so he has no claim whatsoever to be dickish in his response. Hopefully he can be mentally stronger, like the guy in my avatar.

Hope he has a great year and makes all this stuff history. Grimes could sure use a solid running mate on the other side. Finnegan can play inside..
As a second round pick I'm sure he'll get every opportunity to win the job.

Did you just compare Peyton to Jamar's rookie season?

Manning wasn't injured, he had a kidney problem. Not even in the same stratosphere.

Who me? I guess you didnt understand what I wrote. Taylor said EVERY ATHLETE THINKS ABOUT QUITTING and I said Peyton never thought about quitting (furthermore, Tannehill never thought about quitting in his rookie year, Ronnie never thought about quitting in his rookie year, Zach never thought about quitting in his rookie year). So please advise how I just compared the two - I didnt.

Ill do another one further. Did manning think about quitting two years ago when everyone told him to? Nope. Yes it is unfortunate about Taylors injuries, but he needs to be mentally stronger or his life (aside from football) will be extremely hard for him to deal with

Taylor is a little sensitive
I came to this opinion last year listening to him
speak about Will Davis and his camp success...

plus
Will Davis is a better cover guy hands down ..

I like how Taylor responded. A quote attributed to him came across in a way that wasn't his intent or within the spirit of what he meant. So he wanted to clarify it. In the end, it will come down to whether he performs the way he says he will. I've always had big hopes from him that he can be a good starter. Let's see if it comes to fruition.

I understand Taylor's frustration. This news story first came out in April and he defended himself saying it was taken out of context. Now the same story is surfacing again and media outlets are practically ignoring(not doing their job) that this was already talked about a month ago. Taylor is pretty much having to say the same things again as the story is out of context still. Wouldn't surprise me if this came up again during training camp and made a big deal.

I mean I hope he shows up this year, because I mean all this fuss over a guy who hasn't done jack **** except let every pass be completed on him. I mean who cares? It's not like this is an article on wake or tannehill, guys who are important to the team. The guy wanted to quit? Boo hoo then quit we can find another nobody. All I'm sayin is he better show up. And prove to be where we drafted him.

Taylor has had serious health problems. With one of his organs only working at 50 % efficiency or less.
Any athlete at that point the thought would cross their mind living let alone playing.
He also cannot take pain relievers or his condition will get worse.
