Tannehill: 10-13, 114 yards, 1 TD

I'll have to disagree with you there. There isn't much difference in speed. Everyone in the NFL can run. The fastest player on the team, Gates, is not a starter. You should be talking about ability. It's ability not speed that seperates a starter from a reserve. Keep in mind Miami has a very good and deep defense.

Speed isn't just physical ..... it's also mental. You're gonna tell me the backups process the game as well as the starters? Then why don't we have a dog fight at every position there?

That's a no, for most of them ..... aside from the occasional apple or two (i.e. Vontae playing with the backups)

If being objective is an agenda then I am guilty as charged. I know that's a tough concept to grasp because people want to crown paper champions in a week's worth of practice.

Come talk to me when Tanny show's something vs. the starters on defense. I will gladly applaud if that happens. Beating up on the backups when he's the only guy in camp who had any previous experience under Sherman's offense is not exactly a crowning achievement. Playing well vs. them should be expected since most normal rookie QB's come into camp having to adjust to both the speed of the game as well as learning a new offense.

It's possible to be objective and have an agenda. Posting only negative thoughts and opinions and only criticizing posters when they express positive opinions doesn't make you some miraculously lucid objective thinker or bastion of pragmatic realism. It makes you something else.

There can be no agenda when I want 1 of the three QB's to take us to the playoffs. Doesn't matter to me which one. I have posted positives as well as negatives. Having an agenda means you only post one or the other (see the MiamiDolphins.com website). BTW it's not the negatives in regards to Tanny's play that I'm talking about in this thread, only the competition he's facing.

I want the TEAM to succeed not just Ryan Tannehill. Go back and re-read past training camp posts, we've been down this road before with players this early in camp. There is a bit of cautious objectivity absolutely necessary.

I get the fact that some people are getting overly excited about seeing Tannehill have a good practice. Yeah it's not against the 1st team defense but simmer down with stating over and over again that YOU NEED TO SEE TANNEHILL GO AGAINST THE 1ST TEAM DEFENSE.

WE HEAR YOU

The kid is moving along in his FIRST WEEK OF PRACTICE in pads. He's got to earn his reps like all rookies and he is doing just that. He will get his looks and more snaps. So many people are over analyzing all the fine details being sprayed across the twitter-sphere.

I'm excited to see if Tannehill steps up to the plate and as far as I'm concerned HE'S SHOWING HE BELONGS IN THE QB COMPETITION. Simple as that.

You're really reaching now.

Nah, trying to say a performance vs. backups can be extrapolated into playing well vs. the 1's is reaching.

You guys can repeat yourselves about his performance over and over again but I can't? Ahhhh I see. Thanks for clearing up that delicious irony.

I don't think anyone else here is claiming to be some sort of enlightened, free thinking bastion of objectivity.

Tannehill is doing exactly what a #8 overall pick should be doing if he is in fact the real deal.

Flashing, improving, and forcing the issue the he should start.

It's as good as we could have hoped for, now let's hope he can keep it up. If he does, then we've found our guy...FINALLY

it is refreshing to hear positive camp reports for our young QB. i dont think we heard as many since 2007 spanning the Beck, Henne, and White camps as we have in one week for RT.

Why 1st team O against 2nd team D? Seems like you would want 1st vs 1st to get a real showing of talent.

Yeah, judging by the reports from camp I like the idea of getting a draft pick for Moore from a team needing a backup or starter and go with the young guys as backups. I know Moore did well under the circumstances last year but he is not the future at QB and his contract is up next year, get what we can for him

i think this is a great plan.

Tannehill is currently slated as a backup. If he's beating up on the other backups it suggests he's more than a backup. Why can't you admit that's a positive development?
