Tannehill: 10-13, 114 yards, 1 TD

They weren't the only ones with sacks though. Omar noticed one sack (or pressure) from Jamaal Westerman and he said Derrick Shelby had at least one sack with lots of pressures.

Shelby is the guy that has stood out to me most on tape among the no-names we have at DE behind Wake, Westerman and Vernon.

when i watched the combine workouts of all our udfas that attended he looked pretty decent...i didn't really think anyone looked bad that we brought in as a udfa that was there

bout damn time they let koa misi stand up and blitz thru gaps...bout damn time

b/t anybody got any tape on this hogan thats buzzing right now??? if so link me up

the only thing i'm getting there is the philbin post scrimmage interview

Yeah sorry that's my fault the links aren't coming up right. Here it is:

Go to the 24 second and 1:20 marks. Really fantastic play. From the way it's described, what you don't see on the front side of the play is the fact that it was a screen and Tannehill pulled the ball because the RB had fallen down. Then he scrambled to his right, and Derrick Shelby was on him like white on rice, except Tannehill used that 4.5 speed against Shelby's 4.8 speed to create a bunch of separation, so that he could slow himself up near the sideline and zero in on Fasano. Then he lofts a pin point throw over a linebacker and right into the pylon where pretty much only Fasano was going to get it.

I have never, ever, ever seen Chad Henne execute one play that impressive.

Also here's a highlight reel of the scrimmage. At the 44 second mark there's a really keen route and TD catch by Rishard Matthews on a pinpoint throw by Devlin.

There's no tape on Chris Hogan. He took off football to pursue I believe Lacrosse, and by the time he came back to football at Monmouth they were running a concept offense which didn't feature him and so he got only a little action there.

Here's a YouTube of him running his 4.39 in the 40 yard dash. Hogan's story is similar to Les Brown's, really. This guy DeFranco that trained him says he and Brian Cushing are the most impressive athletes he's ever trained.

Pretty sure Devlin and Tannehill were working with the 2nd team defense... Still good... But 2nd team

I don't care if it was our 2nd team D. Considering T-hill's short tenure those are impressive numbers.

You speak as if this is all brand new to him. Coming in having already worked with Sherman and knowing the playbook gives him a step ahead of where a normal wet-behind-the-ears rookie would be.

Regardless of which defense he was against that play he made on the TD Pass is what separates the good from the great. I'm ****ing with what he's done early in camp.

yeah that was a heck of a play...the pinpoint ball placement on the move in that tight a space and the way he just dropped it in with great touch over the outstretched lbs hand...agreed never seen henne do anything like that

To be fair let's make a list of Dolphin QBs who never made that play?

Moore
Henne
Chad Pennington
Lemon
Beck
Mcnown
Fieldler
Culpepper
Lucas
Mitchell
and add Marino to that list - he couldn't run outside the pocket but was sure nimble within the pocket

to be fair henne and tannehill athletically are not even on the same planet...tanny shows on college tape that his ability to throw with accuracy and pace while on the move is flat out special...30 yard ropes in the corner of the endzone in full gallop...and he can do it rolling right or left which also separates him from many qbs...so this play really doesn't surprise me all that much...i'm more about how he looks in the pocket... and i don't mean the sideline throws outside the #'s...those puppies are special also

I'm really pulling for Matthews to make the squad. I don't think he makes it to PS.

At this point, I think Tannehill has at least a 50% chance of opening the season as the starter. He'll still go through bumps, but I think he's showing enough to roll with him.

That is to say, I think the decision to start or sit Tannehill should be based on what's best for his development. This season will be what it is. If we can throw him out there, and it'll be better for him sitting, who cares if we lose a couple more games? First, there's no guarantee that Tannehill won't win us more games than Garrard or Moore. Second, even if he does, no one is going to care - as long as he's making strides. I think he's showing enough to make me feel comfortable that he's ready to develop under fire.
