Tannehill: 10-13, 114 yards, 1 TD

I monitor the practice tweets daily and never seen swiss cheese in anyone tweets once.

Well there was on today man ....

Dolphins second-team D is a slice of swiss cheese. Guys uncovered. No rush. Just gave up TD pass Tannehill to Fasano.

The good news is obviously that Tannehill played well. Pretty hard to gloss over the fact that Moore and Garrard were awful though.

17 passes for 57 yards and 20 for 60. Good Lord :bobdole:. If thats not an aberration, Tannehill might be playing sooner than we think.

Tanny's results vs. the 1st team defense were the same as Moore's. Unless you plan on negotiating the other teams on our schedule this year to play their backups, I would take these things in steps.

This practice session was not true indicators for any of the QB's. Garrard and Tannehill running the 1's O against the 2's D and Moore running the 2's O against the 1's D.

I would have preferred if each QB got a few full series with the 1's O against the 1's defense...so, as fans, we could really evaluate our QB's.

In my mind, Tannehill and Devlin had great performances today..against a weak defense...great for their confidence.

Garrard performed well, but not spectacular.

Moore had to go against the #1 D the most and he struggled. Once he was put against the 2's D, he was able to pad his stats.

IMHO..The story of the day was how dominant the #1 defense was against the offense...no matter who was starting.

Its not Volin, Salguera or Jesse I just rummaged through their timelines and did not see it.

Im not certain who it was but I was on twitter throughout the entire scrimmage and I remember reading the same tweet that referred to the second team defense as "Swiss cheese".

Regardless, we should all be extremely ****ing happy with how well Tannehill played. He's going to make this a real competition.

Yeah, I know he did what he did today against the second teamers and I wasnt trying to say he would put up the same numbers against the first. I was just saying that if Garrard and Moore make a habit of playing that poorly, we may as well be playing Tannehill since he actually has upside.

Actually it was Armando.

His tweet said and I quote " dolphins second-team d is a slice of Swiss cheese. Guys uncovered. No rush. Just gave up TD pass Tanehill to Fasano."

Sorry but Armando doesn't hold a lot of weight with me but you are right about going in steps. This is very encouraging news.

Gotcha.

Remember Tannehill is the only guy on the field (aside from Fuller) who has previous experience running a Sherman offense. Fuller described it today as 60% carryover from their A&M days. I would hope to God Tanny wouldn't look like a bumbling idiot vs. our backups.

Have you seen a tweet from anyone touting the backups then? No. It's been the same throughout practices from everything I've read. Maybe not in terms of openly calling them swiss cheese, but they're not putting up a fight out there.

Unfortunately, not because Tannehill is playing so well, but because the others are playing poorly.

I think Moore is pretty much history at this point...

Very good point right here...our starting D was a juggernaut today....didnt create any INTs but thats the only negative I can think of. Not justifying how the QBs looked against our 1s..but lets not forget this is a pretty dang good defense we have here

One man's opinion. That's all. I'm glad Ryan looked good. Now we have a TRUE QB competition and even Devlin wants some. Good news so why try to find some silly negative comment to shoot it down ?

The 2nd team defense was Swiss cheese and Tannehill was throwing the ball through the holes...

If Tannehill would have gone against the starters, his stats would have been poor as well. He is not ready, and the coaches handling him with kids gloves.

The #1 offense(Garrard/Moore that will start game #1) is definitely behind the #1 defense in terms of being game ready...IMHO

Let's stop acting like Tannehill and Devlin were equally impressive. Devlin scored while the team was working on red zone offense. Tannehill worked the ball down field with ease in what i believe was a 77 yard drive capped off with a Fasano TD.

Tannehill ****s out better QBs than Devlin.
My hope for Devlin is that eventually he can become a good backup to Tannehill, or at the very least a future #3. Garrard and Moore likely won't be with the Dolphins in 2013, so it would be nice to be able to groom Devlin to become an adequate backup. He is probably headed for the PS again this year but seems on pace to earn a permanent spot on the 53 in the near future.

Your tweet monitoring seems to be a lot like that Swiss cheese Armando was talking about :)
