Um, you DID put Henne in the thread title. With that you invited the Henne debate so not sure how you can assess that the thread is being Henne hijacked being you made Henne the topic.
Mind pointing out ONE post that compared Tannehill to Marino?

I wonder if Henne ever had a chance.
Over the last several years we did a poor job of coaching up players well.
IMO, the thing that is often overlooked is the coaching that is needed to players right out of college. It is a given that High School players need to be improved when they reach college but it seems like a lot of people think that college players just pick this stuff up on their own when they reach the NFL. Or, that they are either NFL players or they are not.
I consider the coaching of the players as bigger then the drafting of them.
It is like the old Bum Phillips saying about Don Shula that us old Dolphins fans used to love.

we'll see henne needed: more accuracy, more athleticism, better decision-making, ability to throw to someone in stride, confidence to make more throws then hit the checkdown, learn to throw away sometimes, sense pressure, hold on to the ball when sacked, do something in the redzone besides picks.... all in all i think henne showed some good flashed a little less then 50% of the time, which is a decent backup...

If you didnt want to discuss Henne, why did you put him in the thread title and then go on to compare RT to Henne? My assessment of the thread is spot on. Its not my fault you did not explain your intentions better. You said watching RT gave you flashbacks of Henne.. Thats all the assessment I needed.

Well all I have to say is Tannehill was athletic enough to play two positions in college, and he played them both reasonably well. Henne never did that and neither did 95% of all other D1 players.
As for the thread title, I agree completely that if you put two names in the title with the question about whether one is "more than something compared to the other", it invites the comparison.

I won't say that the hand size thing is ridiculous...but the way it's used against him is borderline ridiculous. I could see the argument being made if he had 8 inch hands. Definitely. But a guy with 9 inch hands is being knocked severely for hand size? Really? That's what we're down to?
Some would say his production at Texas A&M (33 TDs as a senior) was misleading because touched the ball a lot (589 times). That's fine. I have no problem with full accounting of all information. But it cuts both ways. A lot of times you see "15 interceptions" quoted as if it's a damning statistic, while leaving off the 531 attempts it took to get those 15 interceptions. Those people don't WANT you to know that his 2.7% career interception rate is about the same as Drew Brees' and is actually a pretty decent number. They'd rather you not know that and just see the 15 interceptions in his senior season mark and get sticker shock.
You go back to the hand thing. Well, guess what...he fumbled the ball only 4 times in 2011, and only lost one fumble. That's 589 touches, and he lost one fumble. That's it. Is that really a problem?
I think a lot of people like to kill him on the second half performances and whatnot, and the better part of those people don't actually watch the games and so they can't tell me what went wrong in the Oklahoma State game, or name some things that contributed to the bad showing against Texas.
It needs to be said that we're talking about a receivers unit that dropped between 69 and 74 passes, which is way, way, way above normal.

It's funny how you guys just can't see that you're the reason Henne is hijacking this thread. No, I'm not referring to the comparison between Henne and RT. That was one of the points of my original post. What I'm referring to is how some of you and others spam the thread by focusing on why I put Henne in the thread rather than focusing on the actual comparison. If Henne's name irks you, don't reply! Easy, no?
I thanked you for this post originally, but after watching that game I can easily say you are insane :crazy:
Luck made my mouth water and I can only wish RT plays like him in a few years. The accuracy, the movement, the huge 3rd down conversions (numerous ones), and the presence. Yes, he did force one pass and it was INT. But even on that play the WR would have been able to make a play if he had any anticipation. RT looked nothing like Luck and obviously it has to do with the talent around him but it also has to do with the fact he lacks awareness and some accuracy. At least at this point in time RT reminds me of Henne, but more athletic

RT has potential. No doubt about it. That's why he was drafted so high, but as much as we love the pick you can't ignore that desperation and the need to satisfy and excite a fan base didn't factor into it. His bad performances against good talent can't be ignored just as his good performance against mediocre talent can't be ignored. It's going to be fun to watch him flourish but it's gonna hurt to see him flutter about. Hoping for the best despite my current and unpopular assessment.
