Tannehill being compared to Jay Fiedler, but he will never be that good.

I hear this a lot and I find this inaccurate. Our defense couldn't defend against tight ends, or offenses like the Rams. There were some games where we got blew out badly. Was it because of press coverage? Bad linebacker core? I remember our secondary giving up big plays at times from the receiving end.
Your recollection is correct. Fiedler (and often the entire offense) was mostly a liability. And a QB like Marino, paired up with the Dolphins' defense c. 2000-2003, would have done some damage. However, the defense folded over and over again in big spots-- like the last two games of 2002 resulting in no playoffs.

Of course, there were also the games where the entire team failed to show up-- like the 2000 divisional playoff game against the Raiders.

I don't see the comparisons at all... Fiedler had a noodle arm and whenever he tried to throw deep it would float for easy pickings. Tannehill has a much stronger arm.

He has better tools than Fiedler and much better size/strength than Garcia... Very similar game to Garcia though. He is much more then a game manager...He just needs time to get some experience under his belt

If I'm not mistaken, he is also FASTER than both.

I was listening to ESPN radio, yesterday, and they said Tannehill, is a lot like Jay Fiedler or a Jeff Garcia. Personally, I don't think he will ever be that good. I think it would be a horrible decision, if we took Tannehill with the 8th pick. I think he is 2nd or 3rd round talent. We need to draft a WR, with the 8th pick, and then get the best availiable offensive tackle in the 2nd round. In the third round, we should take a quarterback. Miami record next year, will be 4-12. No way this team will win more than 4 games, next year.

Glad you don't get paid for your opinion.

Ryan Tannehill might not be the answer, he could damn well be a huge bust, but to say that he's comparable to Fiedler is just laughable. Jay Fiedler could not throw the ball outside the hashes or downfield to save his life. Tannehill at least has an NFL caliber arm.

So he's not as good as Fiedler or Garcia but he's a 2nd or 3rd round talent? Fiedler and Garcia weren't drafted at all.

Regarding Fiedler, how is Tannehill being compared to him as a 2nd or 3rd rd pick when Fiedler was undrafted? He went to Dartmouth which isn't in the same ballpark as A&M.

So Fiedler and Garcia this time, eh? I've now seen him compared to about 20 completely different QBs. These chumps in the media certainly know what they're talking about. Especially BSPN.

We still had a top ten defense year and out and when we missed the playoffs in 2002, we had the league rushing leader and a good defense and still missed the playoffs. Jay Fiedler was awful. How many big games did Jay Fiedler have in his career? Maybe 2-3...one as a backup in Jacksonville coming in against us in the playoffs and a Thanksgiving game against the Cowboys.

The next stat speaks for itself.

Jay Fiedler’s playoff stats.

1-TD Pass....7-INTS, and 1 fumble lost. Average 176 passing yards a game.

Yeah Tanny might have an NFL caliber arm....but so did Dumbte and Henne. I think what they were trying to say is that Tanny reminds them of Fiedler or Garcia in the sense that they will never be more than average. Decent starter at best. Not a franchise QB

Im not gonna say the kid won't b good or even elite. The issue is right now I'd he ready to play. We have garrad and Moore on staff. tannahill is not plug and play ready. Is this the guy we are willin to invest 5 years in? I don't see why we would draft a player in the first rd so high at eight that's not ready from day one

Agreed sir. A top 10 pick at the QB position should be ready to start from day 1. Tanny is anything but a value pick

Fiedler is one of the worst decisions that ever happened to this franchise. Dont you all realize that Wanstadt did not draft Drew Brees becasue he also thought like you that fiedler was equivalent or better then Brees. That is hurting us to this day everytime I watch Brees play.
Tannehill has the physical tools to be an elite QB. Fiedler never did. Tannehill has the brains to be an elite QB. Tannehill just lacks experience with NFL defenses. He is also an expert at the phins playbook having studied it for 4 years. Tannehill would be our number 1 WR if he was drafted as a WR in addition to QB. We were approaching the bottom of the NFL rankings until philbin got here. Thanks for that change ROSS.

You've contradicted yourself. If you believe Tannehill to be a 2nd or 3rd rounder then by that very statement he's better than Fiedler or Garcia since both went undrafted.
