Tannehill being compared to Jay Fiedler, but he will never be that good.

Won't be as good as Fiedler? Some of you have lost your ever loving minds. He has more natural tools and skills than someone like Jay Fiedler ever will!

Night and day comparison! Tannehill is an elite athlete. Fiedler was a marginal athlete and with a low ceiling as a QB

How the hell does Tannehill compare to Fielder. Fielder had no arm Tannehill has a damn good arm. Tannehill has protypical size , Fielder was a good 2 inches shorter.
Fielder did have decent size and athletic skill but was not the athlete that Tannehill. Tannehill is a top prospect and Fielder was an after thought. I would say they are both very bright guys and you could compare them somewhat mentally

I find it hard to believe some of you people actually believe this. Why is it so important that a QB starts from day one?? Isn't a QB with star potential 10x more important than how developed he is when you draft him?? Arron Rodgers wasn't ready day one, DAN MARINO couldn't even win the starting job until week 6, does that mean it would have been a mistake to take Danny with the 8th overall pick?? Look, I am not 100% sold that Tannehill is the answer either, but having to wait a year to see if he pans out is not a problem in my eyes. I would much rather have to wait a year or two to get the next Rodgers than I would drafting another Tedd Ginn Jr and family. If Sherman who knows about as much about him as anyone thinks he is worth it than I am on board. If we draft someone else I am fine that also because I will feel they knew more of his down side.

What I am saying is I would much rather draft someone that didn't pan out and completely sucks, than pass on that player and two years later he is leading the Cheifs or Cardinals to the Super Bowl. I ask you this, and it may be different for different fans, but which hurt more drafting Henne and it not working out, or NOT drafting Brees, when so many of us wanted him?? Every time I see the saints play it brings me pain. Henne was a mistake but at least we were shooting for a QB.

Tannehill might not work out but I hope we take the chance rather than hoping a miracle falls out of a tree and hits us on the head like Dan did. Miracles like that are not things you can count on. You have to make your own luck in this world.

I wasn't saying that Tanny should start from day one...In fact I think it is better for them to sit regardless of how good they are. My point was that for a #8 pick they should be good enough to start from day one if needed. I don't believe Tanny is. Not a good value pick in my opinion.

It's all speculation. Nobody knows what he would be like in the NFL. Look at Marino. His stats were mediocre at best his SR year. He through more INTs than TDs and the Dolphins were made fun of for drafting him as high as they did. Luckily they did draft him and not Darrell Green, like everyone else wanted. Imagine if this forum existed back then. Everyone would be like "I cant believe they drafted Marino. Clearly we need a speed corner and Green was right there in the draft.".

All the people that say they dont like Tannehill or he sucks, I bet they havent even seen him play lol. He isnt bad, but I say we try and trade down with cincy or someone and get DeCastro, and pick up a QB in the 2nd and a WR/DE in the 2nd and in the 3rd take a TE/ or whatever. But I also wouldnt mind taking Tannehill, if Sherman wants him, lets get him!

Weeden has more in common with fiedler they are about the same age lol
That being said as a joke remember when we drafted beck how mature and ready he was supposed to be, yea sounds familiar

The first mistake is listening to ESPN radio. They throw so much BS at the wall, from all those so called experts, and only rarely does any stick. How does Tannehill compare to Fiedler... he does not. 6'4" 230 vs 5'11" 195, Good arm vs noodle... no comparrison

Do you also realize we won 37 games with him as our starting quarterback? Who since Marino has had as many starts and compiled those kind of wins?!

To anyone who watched those wins, it's also fair to remind you that NONE of those were significant wins in the stretch of the season or in the playoffs. That team won because it had a top 5 defense for nearly all of that run..not because of anything the offense [more often than not] could or could not do... Anyone who followed us thru those wins also knows that we tried desperately during every offseason and during the season to find a better option than he Fiedler. Yes, I realize we won a lot of games with him...but it was simply 'with him', not because of him...

well, i guess its TANNEHILLS turn to get the MATT MOORE treatment.

one of the most SILLY threads i have seen on the board in a while, and there have been some real doozy's!!

lookin' like not many remember jay fiedler. his arm was WEEKER than chad penningtons. i have NEVER seen a "pro" qb who could stand in the pocket, nobody around him, wr or te WIDE OPEN and he would FLAT OUT MISS HIM!!! and lets not talk about the deep out. the big time, strong arm qbs can run this play, its risy and you have to have accuracy and a rocket arm because any error and its a pick.

and feebler made an ART out of having the deep out picked off. everytime we ran that play [to our peril], 8 of 10 times it was a pick and half of those were pick six.

in fact, i bet if you broke it down, feeblers picks sixes were probably tops in nfl history, if it was broken down into a ratio with his time starting. he was just plagued by the pick six!! and so many times he would get back, look down field, see his guy, plant his back foot and launch and the ball would just sink like a rock! cant count how many times that happened and the cameras would show the grimacing, bewildered faces on the sideline.

we had a bum qb operating an archaic, simpleton offensive system by a clue less coach who choked every coordinator he brought in [ask norv turner]'

we had a real solid o-line, championship caliber defense. everyone squaked about the o-line after every failed year when all we needed was to replace feebler and get a true #1 wr. wanny wanted the ricky show and NOTHING else. wewere truelly a play off team and contender had wanny replaced feebler [which he could have done several times and passed, [matt hasslebeck, trent green in his prime, brees 2x, etc....].

"oh, but nra, you dont understand! feidler was so scrappy, he had a lot of heart." yep! he did. he just didnt have an nfl arm and couldnt read defenses. and after miami, he got a jets back up gig and then retired. no one wanted him.

feebler was a bum. tannehill has more talent and more upside in the left side of his jock than feebler EVER had in his whole career!! comparing a promising, rocket arm prospect to a FAILED, week armed, no talent one and done qb is SILLY!!!!

its just so funny that folks can go to such lengths and create posts and threads compiled of so much nonsense, distortions and slander when they talk about a player they dont want. facts get thrown right out the window [see matt moore].

i guess all the venom is being injected in to tannehill now. moore can use a break though, thats for sure.

jay feebler. how QUICKLY people forget.

Exactly...the defense carried that team for sure. Fiedler was a mediocre QB and had the QB rating to prove it...He was god awful in the playoffs and when it mattered.
