Tannehill calls out Philbin

Probably because he didn't trust his qb to make a mistake

No it just means that Philbin is not a head coach that has the killer instinct to call plays that get you wins! He doesn't call plays to his personnel something Shula excelled at! Maybe getting rid of Philbin is the answer! The guy is too quiet and timid for head coach material! Something you don't see in the good coaches!

No, it was Philbin giving up like the coward pansy he is. He doesn't have the cojones to lead a team deep in the playoffs. Could you EVER picture Pete Carrol, Sean Payton, BB or any other championship coach bleeding out the clock in that situation?

We will never win championships with this play not to lose mentality. I thought I was reliving the Wanny glory years for a second...

All these coaches have QBs they can rely on and know that they can throw every pass in the book.

Yes those 8-8 seasons were great under Shula.

Shula didn't win anything after the 70s, he got fat and lazy with Marino.

I guess I spoke too soon when I said Tannehill was a coach killer but, at least he dosent throw his coaching staff and teammates under the bus for his failures.

You know what........ STFU Ryan Tannehill. If you had given the coaching staff a reason to think you could do something other than turn it over or go 3 and out and give Buffalo another scoring chance before the half, they wouldnt have tried to kill the clock there. MAN UP and take responsibility for your ****ty play.

Eat **** Ryan Tannehill. Start acting like RG3 and this is going to be a lot worse for you.

Give Philbin a reason besides your ****ty play to start the better QB who is sitting the bench right now. Philbin obviously needs a reason. He clearly isnt smart enough to see Moore gives us the best chance to win. At least Moore would act like a ****ing MAN too and not blame his coaches and teammates if he plays like ****.

**** Ryan Tannehill. Goofy bastard.

Well said. I have tried to keep an open mind about RT, but he has leveled off. He knows the offense, he is in his 3rd year, but his passing accuracy is poor. Even on his completions, the ball placement on well designed plays prevents the receivers from getting YAC on a lot of plays. Other passes that are off target are drive killers. We are talking short to intermediate passes. Never mind all the mis-connections deep. He doesn't have a prayer even with a Brandon Marshall type of receiver. RT doesn't throw the right type of ball in given situations. He is a 5 iron driver when we need a guy that can use all the clubs.
Matt Moore would have won this game, or it would have been more competitive. I am sure about that.
The reason Philbin (who I have doubt as well) didn't throw before the half was because he feared RT throwing a pick and sealing the game. Also the loss of Moreno really affected the game plan. They needed to regroup. I get that. But not using 2:30 and 3 TO's to try to get points, that is on Philbin. He should not protect Ryan. Let him sink or swim.
Frankly, this team will probably win the next 2 games and give us false hope again, but after the bye week, this team will under achieve again and Rt and Philbin will be trying to place blame.
At that point, Matt Moore should run the team if Lazor chooses, because I think he will be our head coach next year.
I am really pissed, and probably not thinking logically, but this is how it looks to me.
This week is going to suck.

Better go back and look at the team records under Shula. We had the highest winning % during the Shula years. An 8-8 season was considered a bad year.
Stop making foolish statements.

I swear some of you guys twist words worse than most media reporters.
Tannehill says right afterwards "But I respect Coach Philbin for making the call he did, we didn't justify to him that we could move the ball down at the 2 min mark"

Please, people, seriously. Tannehill is not a coach-killer.

86 to 89, 91_ 93_95. That's 7 years of mediocre football under Shula with Marino. He got fat and lazy once he got a great in the 80s.

Did anyone see the interview???? He does NOT call out Philbin he even admits they didn't deserve a chance.

Bad luck, deaths of a couple of players, injuries ending careers in prime, bad drafting, misplaced confidence in certain assistant coaches, and an improvement of division foes during that period all played a part.
The team still managed to be in the conversation of playoffs each year.
The Johnson, Pornstache years were not even as good.
It has steadily gotten worse since Shula's departure.
Fat and lazy comments are foolish.

You didn't watch much football back then right?

The AFC East was a dog pound. We beat the crap out of each other. In 1989 Bills won the division at 9-7. In 1991 the Jets went to the playoffs at 8-8. In 93 we started 9-2 and lost the last 5 and in 1996 the AFC East send three teams to the playoffs: Bills, Pats and Colts.

You are like NYJunc and doing selective history. You disregard that we were outside those years you listed in the 90s potential playoff contenders and even in those "mediocre" years we were in playoff contention.

The only two years I give you is 86 and 88. 1987 was a strike shortened season anyways.

So I prove you wrong, and you cone back with this? A bit lazy.

But oh well, excuses are second nature to this fan base.

I could be wrong but wasn't 93' the year Marino went down with the Achilles injury and we went through a bunch of QB s that year ! And 1995 should have been a good year also as we had a lot of high priced free agency players that couldn't play together! Alot of those years were still good years 86 team wasnt too much different frim the good 85 team! And we were lucky to do as good in 93 considering the injuries to qbs! Shula took and got the most out of those qbs that year!

We all know the reason Philbin played it safe is because the way Tannehill was playing there was ZERO chance we were scoring. I generally despise gutless decisions like that but in this case it totally made sense because the odds of Tannehill turning the ball over in that situation if they tried to push it were astronomically high. It shocks me to hear Tannehill talk like this because after the game Philbin has been twisting reality into a pretzel trying not to call out Tannehill for his intensely ****ty play.

Okay than. If the coach feels that way about his QB than he should f***ing replace him. Not sit on the f***ing ball wit 2:20 to go in the half with all of your timeouts and trailing 9-0.
