Tannehill changing how he attacks deep throws

This I agree with 100%. I see other QB's almost make a quick long throw early and let their guy run under it. Seem like when Tanny throws it Wallace has already broken open. When you see the man to man let her rip and see if Wallace can get there before the DB. I have major doubts it will happen, because it hasn't happened yet, but these 2 guys heating up would do wonders for the remainder of our season.

It happen once in the Cincy game. The DB knew he was beat while Wallace coming out the break and tackled him. From what I saw it was 50 50 if Wallace would have caught up to the ball.

This game vs Carolina is the perfect opportunity to just start throwing bombs and see what happens. Get some practice in a game situation.

We aren't going to run on them, and we aren't going to win dinking and dunking. We'll struggle to throw into the middle of the field against Kuechly. It's our least important game left, an inter-conference matchup. Perfect opportunity. I fully expect a gameplan that involves a lot of 6 yard curls, though.

By the way, this is something worth mentioning: Robert Griffin threw his receivers and team under the bus the other day after a Redskins loss, blaming Moss (I think?) for an interception. Turned into a big story and caused some unneeded drama for the Redskins. Tannehill took full responsibility for the deep ball issues, saying that they were all on him. So, good for him.

Yep, and if he doesn't underthrow it by 15 yards, and Wallace makes an attempt to catch it we are due a Pass interference or two.

What I never understand is on 3rd and long we usually dump it off for 3 yards. Why not just launch it deep then?? PI, catch is great. Incomplete is the same as gaining 3 yards and punting and a pick is a descent punt

I've been saying this since the first few games. He has to start throwing to a spot deep and stop trying to hit Wallace exactly. If he does put more air under it and throws to a 5 by 5 section of the field Wallace will have the ability to track those plays. Also if he lets it fly the chances of an Int are less because Wallace is the one going to get there. This week is the perfect time to do this as the Panthers DBs are not that great. I've said on other forums our best chance to win is each of our receivers has about 8 catches each. Wallace, Hartline and Matthews. Their LBs can cover our TEs and RBs but their dbs against two good vets and then a pretty good slot receiver are going to have a tough day. If we can give Tannehill just enough time but also throw in lots of WR screens like the Pats did we will see some good retruns on these plays. Some nice quick double moves as well. These guys are very aggressive because of their defensive front, use that against them.

Good point the Pats gashed them with wr screens.
But, that is when Brady recognized blitz and checked in to the wr screen. Tanny rarely changes the play once lined up, so don't expect us to have success with it unless we guess right.

What a misplaced emphasis. The passing game would be so much better if Tannehill were simply allowed to roam the field more instead of hanging out in the pocket all day. Those downfield throws would happen more often, and would hinge far less on perfect timing to be executed. His YPA would go up, and his sacks would go way down.

Instead we're farting around talking about what he has to do from the pocket to achieve perfect timing with somebody downfield, as though that's the main problem here.

The problem is that this guy is severely miscast in a pocket passing offense.

Good god do you ever f***ing stop?

Tannehill basically acknowledges he has been playing poorly, and hasnt been able to get it to Wallace look he can/should. So he says basically says he's going to try to improve and just heave it.

That's true but we can see man to man with some simple motion. If its man to man then throw a wr screen if not they should have options, that is what this offense is all about. The receiveers are going to win this game for us with the odd play like a double screen to Egnew, something away from our tendencies, to score some points and win.

I have questioned Tannehill in the past. I also am upset with some of the missed connections happening downfield between him and Mike Wallace. But, at the same time, Tannehill has showed me quite a bit this season. Honestly, if the kid can develop a little better sense of how to avoid the rush from inside the pocket, when to throw the ball away, and improve the placement of his deep ball, we will have a damn fine quarterback on the Miami Dolphins. All of these things can be fixed, I'm actually starting to come around to believing this kid being what I have been waiting for.

Maybe some of the problems are that wallace refuses to throw and catch with tannehill before the game. Maybe some of the problem is that wallace doesn't catch with his hands and he gives up on routes? Im tired of this tannehill sucks crap. Tannehill is the best qb we've had since Marino. How's that for a fact

This is something I don't understand because last year tannehill did these things but had slow mo
Hartline. I loved that mentality.

i think a lot of it has to do with over thinking it. that leads to late throws, or inaccurate passes. i'm not saying he's scared to death, i'm saying that without total confidence his "feeling" or his "instincts" are negated by errant throws. once he can just relax and "let it rip" as they said, he will have no problem connecting on long passes. how long it takes to get there (if ever), is the question. i don't think there is anything at the QB position this kid can't become proficient at. he just needs the time and the confidence experience brings.

also, about hartline. dierdorf constantly mentioning how he doesn't have the speed to get behind anyone. people on here calling him slow, or even slo mo. wasn't he a high school track state champion in Ohio? isn't he fast? not mike wallace fast, but fast? i would have to go back to his pro day numbers, but I could swear it was in the 4.4's for the 40 yard dash. did he somehow lose his speed? everyone talks about him like a 4.6 guy. what is up with that?

Mike Sherman doesn't trust the pass protection. However, at some point he needs to realize that risking a sack is better than counting on any receiver on this roster to actually make a ****ing play after a catch. Charles Clay has done it a couple of times, Rishard Matthews has done it a couple of times, and Brandon Gibson did it once on that great touchdown effort. Other than that... yeah.

He's not the sharpest tool in the shed.....

rg3 blamed moss for that last drive heave off his back foot when he could have just thrown it away and gone to 4th down??? ha ha...that dudes priceless...that was absolutely a horrid decision by the qb

in the first quarter he missed a wide open paulson crossing vertical to the sideline where if he threw it catchable there was no one b/t him and the endzone...overthrew it by like 10 yards or more...
