Tannehill could become 2nd Phins QB to pass for 4k yards

I think you missed mine.

Your point that if you revise history you get a different outcome? I think I caught that.

you can play "what if" all day.

We would also have about 3 more wins if Mike Wallace caught everything that hit his hands.
If Brady went on IR we would be leading the division, if the Ravens miss that field goal we would be the 6th seed right now
If your aunt had balls she would be your uncle...

I just don't think passing yards in today's NFL are a great way to measure QB play. It's a pass heavy league and if you start enough games you'll be assured to throw over 3,000 and 4,000 is no great accomplishment any longer. I think 4th Q comebacks, passer rating in 4th quarter, TDs, red zone QBR etc are more important. Don't understand the obsession w passing yards theses days. Look at Matt "mistake prone" Stafford - he has a gazillion yards and how many playoff appearances? Just sayin. I'm more impressed w Ryan's ability to take care of the football and limit his young QB mistakes - while winning games in the 2nd half now. He didn't throw for a lot of yards yesterday but he played fantastic - after the pick 6 he responded by taking us right down for a TD. That's what Marino used to do. That's what the great ones do. He continues to do this and we'll be able to call him "elite" soon enough.

The point is that yards per pass attempt predicts winning much more strongly than passing yards.

I see you're still missing it. ;)

I will respect ESPN QBR when someone can explain the formula for getting to the number they do...
They did. At some sports statistics conference in like 2010. If you actually bothered to show up, and ask specific questions. I will not and can not take QBR seriously, ever. Did you know that if the QB fumbles and the opposing team punts after recovering it, the QB isn't penalized as much as if the opposing team drives 60 yards for a touchdown on the recovery? How stupid is that?

Going on the math alone, if Chad Pennington would have attempted the same number of passes per game in 2008 as Ryan Tannehill has attempted this year, he would've thrown for 4,586 yards.

Yards per pass attempt means far more than yards alone.
And you're still deflecting

Well you're a fool if you think pennington would have survived to throw that many passes. This oline would've got him killed or his glass shoulder would have shattered due to overuse. Also what would tannehill's adjusted stats be with that running game and oline?

Probably the 4,586 yards Shouright mentioned for Chad, while forgetting Penny's shoulder would not have allowed him to reach far enough in the season to get 3500, let alone 4500 yards.

But Pennington didn't do that so you're talking make believe. That adds nothing to what Tannehill is actually doing in reality.

And if Ryan Tannehill's YPA was what Chad Pennington's was in 2008, we'd likely have about three more wins. ;)

And if T-hill had Ricky and Ronnie with a solid o-line....

Your schpeel is getting old. We all know you farted and you're stinkin' up the place.

I like Chad Pennington, and I think he will be an excellent coach if he ever decides he wants to go that route, but he had serious limitations as a QB -- physical limitations -- and those showed up in that horrible playoff loss to Baltimore.

Ryan Tannehill is already a better QB than Chad Pennington.

What he's doing in reality isn't nearly as good as what Pennington did in reality in 2008, despite the difference in the number of passing yards.

You know what is really amazing....ever since the O-line started playing better, the running game started doing some huge damage of it's own...Ryan has been a very good QB.

Many of us have been saying this from the beginning of the season, very tough to be at the very least an adequate QB when you have no time to do anything back there....no matter how talented a QB you are.

If he was so great and our O was so good why did they resort to a gimmick offense and line him up at WR?
