Tannehill made 4 throws yesterday that not many QBs can make

Underthrew another pa vertical for a 55 yard gain where he did set his feet...that one bothered me the most...got to hit that out in front for 6...

The ball came out late due to a play fake -- AGAIN. Same thing vs San Diego. I honestly just think he couldn't throw it any harder than that.

Mike Sherman is killing this offense. And apparently, the players feel the same way. David Canter had some eye-opening comments on Sunday.

I think the best thing that could ever happen to Tannehill is a new coach. He has heard Shermans take for 6 years now. He made some great throws but as an offense we aren't improving. I understand having 3/5 of the oline out makes it tough but we need to finish teams off better. I thought we had this one but we just can't seem to make in game adjustments after teams make theirs at the half. I really like Philbin but I question his coordinators. I feel like this team is similar to teams like the 49ers and even KC. Lots of talent on the roster just not being put in the best spots or not playing to the players strengths. If Ireland goes I could see Philbin getting one more year with the new GM but have to hire new coordinators.

Yeah but they are running pa to try and keep the defense honest...tannehill checked to the right calls for the d being played...heavy run looks but Wallace is literally outrunning the timing of the routes and the qbs arm at times...I would ask Wallace to sell it a bit more before getting vertical to give the qb time to carry out the fake and set his feet...

It's tough though...tannehills arm is plenty good enough but Wallace has outrun it speed especially on delayed action from the qb calls

He underthrew some, but he's getting closer....the fact he is connecting is going to force defenses to make adjustments to prevent the big play. Hopefully him and Wallace can continue to develop their chemistry over the final six games giving them something to build on.

I guess it's just me but I saw improvement in his deep ball yesterday and I also felt like he had his best game yet of managing the pocket. Even that first sack he took, if Bryant McKinnie doesn't flat out give up on the play, Tannehill's able to easily roll out and keep it alive.

What is starting to trouble me is his decision-making on the run. He had two really ugly plays that should have been interceptions (one was) while scrambling to his right.

And hey, I was looking forward to a hoops scoops thread so we could have some actual football discussion that isn't "OMG TANNY SUCKS" or "OMG WALLACE SUCKS."

Disagree with #1. Three of the deep attempts to Wallace were off target (not the last hail mary; that was fine). Two under throws and one overthrow, if I remember correctly. Even though a few of them were completed, they weren't greatly placed balls and I'll side with the play-by-play who said that was "All Mike Wallace". It was frustrating to see because we're this far into the season and these guys can't seem to get in sync. Maybe it will be better next year with more familiarity, but then again maybe it won't. Just speaking from a football perspective, I think Tannehill would rather be throwing to a guy like Brandon Marshall or AJ Green over someone with Mike Wallace's skill-set.

I do think you missed one. I thought that high-arching wheel route he threw to Lamar Miller was pretty sweet.

All in all I'm not too worried about Tannehill. At this point I'm just hoping he makes it through the season healthy.

completely agree with this, his Deep ball needs a lot of work but at least hes finally throwing it out there but that throw on the wheel route to lamar miller, that was a special throw. Tannehill has shown that he can make every type of throw, question is will he and this coaching staff be able to do it consistently enough to win in this league

The almost 2nd pick where the defenders ran into each other tanny expected Wallace to sit down in the void...he didn't...that's a miscommunication when the play broke down from the pocket IMO...Wallace carried it deep never turned his head to the qb tannehill threw it in the vacated area...

I couldn't tell what the coverage was...just looked to me like a on the fly guys not on the same page

It looked like a miscommunication for sure, but my question is... why wouldn't they take it deep there? I thought Wallace had the right idea.

I don't know, but I do know that there was nothing but green grass behind #11.

There was after he left the hole and the corner and safety converged...whatever it was I'm sure it was bracketed...otherwise that safety Lester who's ehhh never gets there

There was plays to be made...he will get better with them...

when? they've acknowledged it's a focal point and the deep throws week 12 were the same as they've been all year. the kid just isnt good at it. we all hope he gets better but there is nothing to indicate he can or will. he has not hit wallace in full stride once. not once.

That's fair but I refuse to believe a qb that can make that level reads and decisions with the football will not become more consistent hitting them with time...but that's just me...

And I know these misses stand out but qbs miss verticals all the time...we just right now don't score enough to offset it and make em not so much of a big deal...

That said I'm not about to say that his vertical ball placement is a strength these days...it's not...but it's not a finished thing yet either
