Tannehill must start from day 1

I don't know what some of you, and some "experts" were watching. TANNEHILL made too many bad "reads"/decisions to count. He's lucky a few of his throws weren't intercepted. While he was lucky against 3rd and 4th string future burger flippers, that won't fly against legit NFL CBs.

That being said, he showed some ability as well. But he needs learning/experience...He is NOT ready: not even close. All we know now is (a) he has all the tools; (b) except experience, which he needs very much. That being said, the next person who tells me that he "lacks armstrength", or "can't ever become a leader", I will punch them in the nose.

As to MOORE, in case you missed it, he did very well. His INT was the result of the pass being tipped at the l/o/s by a DLman.

Now for the TRULY bad news. The Right side of our OL sucked WAZOO...again...pretty much from start to finish. I couldn't keep track of all the OLmen who played. I do know that our young, rookie RT got "owned", and NO ONE who played RG impressed me. It was almost "deja vu all over again" from last year's COLUMBO-CAREY fiasco...maybe not THAT bad, but definitely NOT good.

I wouldn't say Moore did very well by any stretch, I don't think he played horrible though. I liked the pace of our offense, and if we can get first downs on a rather consistent basis, we will be seeing some very tired defenses and that will give whoever our qb is some nice time to sit back and find the open guys. This next preseason game is going to be intriguing as now it seems Tannehill is going to make a serious push to become the starting qb of the Miami Dolphins... SO GLAD WE HAVE A F'ING QB!!!

I agree, he didn't look bad but definitely not great. He almost threw a couple of picks but that's expected from a rook in his 1st game. I say start him. If he can't beat out Moore this year I'd be a little concerned.

He's a rookie, he's going to make his share of mistakes and bad reads, but, he showed so much more tonight than just arm strength. He showed poise, he showed a comfort level, he acted and looked like he belonged and didn't seem like the "moment" was too big for him. He needs experience yes, he needs to see as many looks and defenses as can be thrown at him. I realize that pre-season defenses are going to be vanilla, but, the more snaps he takes in both practice and games the better for his learning curve. We're going to be mediocre at best with Moore at QB, IMO we can be just as mediocre with Tannehill while he learns. No one is saying he's ready to put on a yellow jacket and pick out his bust, but, he sure as hell looked like he belongs after tonight.

P.S. I love the comment made earlier about his first drive starting on the "13" yard line. lol, Brilliant.

It's simple. Coach promised that the best man would get the job. There isn't any question who the best quarterback was in this game. Start the kid!

If Tannehill shows it, then start him. I like what I saw tonight. Moore as a back up, sure. I really liked what I saw last year. Garrard, I feel a bit duped. Where the hell did this come from?

Could not have said it better myself!

YES I DO INDEED feel there's hope for both MARTIN and TANNEHILL.

But I'd give TANNEHILL a full year. Don't forget, even the great ones usually sit awhile, before becoming topshelf. J UNITAS actually got CUT by the team that drafted him in 1955. BRADY sat behind a knowledgable "statue". And if I recall correctly, even MARINO sat half of his 1st season. There's something to be said for "patience". As to MARTIN, he's new to this level of play, and you have to LEARN things at EVERY position. Because, to papraphrase DOROTHY's line in The Wizard of Oz, "They're not in College anymore".

I really LIKE how you CAPITALIZE every other WORD in your posts. It REALLY adds inflection to your BRILLIANT deductive skills AND makes me NOT want to PUNCH you.

I thought tannehill performed very well last night. He looked very poised and had a presense about him. Very excited to see the progress he makes during the next game.

I feel you must give Ryan the job due to the many factors.
1. Coaching- New offensive minded head coach with his former college coach as offensive coordinator.
2. Tools- Ryan has all the physical tools (big body and strong arm).
3. Team- Lets not fool ourselves into believing this team is a strong playoff contender.
4. Draft- This kid was the 8th pick, and many other QB's have had success as rookies.
5. Fans- Dolfans deserve a young QB to watch grow and develope into a star from day 1.

Actually.....Brady sat behind the statue for.........all of 2 games.

In the past 12 years, we have seen rookies perform better faster than ever before. The rookies have come in immediately and paid dividends rather quickly like Brady, Rothlisberger, Ryan, Newton, Dalton, Freeman.

RT17 has played in this offense as a WR and QB the past 4 years. While he played receiver he took reps as a QB, because he always viewed himself as the QB. He knows this offense from a QB's perspective and from a WR's perspective.

The talent he displayed was against 2nd and 3rd stringers, but remember, he played with 2nd and 3rd stringers. He will only get better. I am not claiming that he will play like the QB's posted above immediately, but why not start him, instead of the mediocre progress stopper in Moore. Moore is a backup, a very good one at that, but as a starter, he hurts us in the long run.

That's just my style. I capitalize 2 things: (a) any point that I want to emphasize; and (b) all proper names. You DO know what a proper name is, don't you? If so, then QED.
Deal w/it. I won't be changing my style.

Not to belabor a point, but MOORE was rated the 12th best QB in the NFL last season, despite playing for a mediocre team, w/an unready HC, and COLUMBO-CAREY protecting his right side. Your obsession w/MOORE as a back-up is incredibly shortsighted. Thank GOD you're nobody in the MIAMI franchise...or the team would be in REAL trouble.

I was very encouraged by MOORE's play, and even a little more encouraged by TANNEHILL. He has all the tools: anyone who ever says otherwise again is blind to reality...now, what he needs is experience, so that his "reads'' are better, and his decision-making is correct more often.

Also, I believe that when Miami"s staff decides to start RT17 the fans will come out to support that decision. It's the beginning of a carreer. Matt Moore would be us postponing the start of a carreer. I feel starting the rook make sense from a football perspective as well as a business perspective.

Hey made some mistakes of course he did he is a rookie in his first professional game, even 2nd and 3rd stringers are better than most of the D's he faced in college. However, he made some excellent throws and read that zone read to Wallace where he dumped it on teh far sideline over everyone was a thing of beauty. His roll out and dump off again PERFECT and not to mention the TD pass he threw over the LB' and led him unlike Henne who would have thrown it to the back shoulder and the DB would have knocked away.

He showed a huge amount of poise and ability and above all CONFIDENCE like he had been doing it for years didnt look gun shy and was running probably the most basic offence possible. We probably did not run more than a few formations and route combinations. It was basic and the Bucs decided to the be Jets and Blitz all the time and not only did he handle it he led the offense.

Moore looked okay I for some reason do not like the way he looks when he runs the no huddle he doesnt look natural like its kinda forced I feel he needs to break huddle and walk up and assess the D not just line up and go which Tannehill has like at least 2 more years experience with. So for everyone saying he doesnt have the reps well in fact he does, Moore is the one with only an off season of snaps in a no huddle up tempo offense RT has been doing it for the past 2 years in fundamentally the same offense.

So RT may not win the job but he will be nipping at the heels of it for the entire season.
