Tannehill Quote

If Ryan Tannehill played "great" then Ryan Fitzpatrick had the greatest game in NFL history. Tannehill played OK not even remotely close to "great".

Ok so now Tannehill is compared to the best performance by a QB each ****ing week now?

Someone said Ryan Tannehill played great I simply pointed out a QB that actually did play great.

Tannehill is a frustrating player. Makes three beautiful throws and then tosses an ill-advised interception. The inconsistency is maddening.

I think the INT tanny threw in the endzone, trying to hit Gesicki, was a blessing in disguise. A bad play by both qb and te, but they can work on what went wrong and improve from there. Glad it happened early in the season and we still won the game.

Imagine how good this offense could be if we can fine tune that play and give tanny a legitimate redzone target/threat.

I didn't watch the Bucs/Saints game, but based on the score my guess is that Fitzpatrick actually did play great.

But that's the problem with Ryan Fitzpatrick. He comes in as a stopgap starter, he has a couple of monster games, earns himself a contract, and then proceeds to play at a sub-replacement level for 16 games.

I said "everything factored in... it was a great game."

And it was. A contextually great game.

And that has to be the standard -- every time. The game, all stats, plays, etc. in GAME CONTEXT.

A little context lesson: Could Fitz run Gase's offense yesterday -- with those same players, against that same D, with the same injury layoff, and make those same throws and plays?

Probably not. Everyone knows what kind of QB Fitz is. 35 years old and played the GAME OF HIS LIFE yesterday. But now that is the standard of *great* used for RT17, lol.

This is why it is so counterproductive to take cherry-picked QBs week by week, item by item, in order to cast shade on RT.

In game and player context, game in and game out, RT is most always good, and often GREAT. Could he reach excellent? Yes. Could he reach incredible -- like some of Rogers' performances? Maybe -- in moments. But that's not needed for Miami to have success.

A legit expectation for team success is for RT to play good baseline -- and great in spurts. Contextually.

Tannehill played a good game. Nothing spectacular and not bad. It was a solid outing. In two instances I scratched my head. One was in the first or second quarter we had three receivers lined up against one DB with no deep help for him. While Tannehill went under center the guy was jumping around waving his arms to get needed help. One defender moved over (Titans uniforms suck there is no color separation for the numbers). We still would have a 2 on 1 on the left side. Instead he threw to the right short. Tannehill must see that. It was an easy toss for a TD.
The other one was the fade into the endzone.

But also made a few excellent throws. In the second quarter he threw a strike down the middle against the blitz, and followed that throw with another strike up the middle. The TD pass to Stills was a beauty. No matter how much the second delay was a distraction but that play was well defended and the pass was perfectly placed.

I don't really blame the second INT on Tannehill. He did what I always wanted from him. On 3rd and long go deep instead of another short pass. I always said I take an INT for the try. It's as good as a punt. Grant and Tannehill were on different pages. And none of us will ever know who was on the wrong page. They will work it out.

The bigger problem I had with the game that we only scored 7 points up until the second delay. If you face a better and more potent offensive team we will be out of the game quickly. We cannot waste a good defensive outing like that.

Gase must be more risky.

Essentially overall the performance on both side gives hope for the future. Though it is hard to really gauge the performance after the second delay.

What's funny is as I was reading some of the more out there negative comments about Tannehill in the game thread yesterday I was also watching Russell Wilson on RedZone throw a gawd-awful interception and thinking how it would be excused away over here. Now I'm not indicting him, he's a great QB but as the saying goes: "**** happens" and when it does, it doesn't redefine the player

Everything factored in, it was an incredibly good win for Miami and a great game for RT.

Tannehill is right. Miami was 2 of 10 convertng 3rd downs and scored 20 points on offense. Two FGs were set up by interceptions followed by a 19 yard drive and 0 yard drive.

Offensively Miami's success can be narrowed down to one long drive jump-started by 25 yards of penalties on the Titans and one big play.
Right. Hoping some of that had to do with the weather and the long delay, but still have to do better than that.

Personal attacks against our fellow Dolphin Fans makes your argument weak. Tannehill played wellish, looked pretty much the same to me. The OL looked great the running game looked good.... offense still can't score.

I dunno, NFL.COM has us 7th overall in scoring.

The only thing inconsistent about Tannehill is fan opinions about how he performs.

NO SH$&! and especially after reading how that ( very uncharacteristic) floating ball to no one was really a Grant route error.

THill was amazingly good yesterday in so many areas.
