Tannehill's Accuracy throwing Deep

And when you pair Mike Wallace with a QB that can hit the deep go route in stride..

But pair Mike Wallace with QB that can't hit the go route in stride (Tannehill, Charlie Batch, Byron Leftwich), then Wallace becomes a very mediocre receiver.

Wallace sucks...all he can do is run fast...u can tell tannehill doesn't trust him

Wallace sucks...all he can do is run fast...

I hope you were saying that 6 months ago. Because the Mike Wallace you see today is the exact same Mike Wallace of the last several years. Nothing has changed about his game. Nothing. He runs, catches, plays the exact same way that he has always played.

How many times have we seen Wallace not being where RT thought he would be? I've seen it a number of times. Not saying that Tanny is without blame, just that it is shared with Wallace.

Yep....but I also heard a report on WQAM that Tanny works a lot with Hartline on routes, but hasn't worked much with Wallace.

I'm not saying I don't like him...but its very concerning that he can't get open on anything other than a deep paaa and that's only once a game. he drops a lot of balls. you do realize wide receivers get paid to catch? if all a receiver had to do was run fast usain bolt would be in the nfl

If that's true, than that is on Tannehill and the coaches. They should be working on that in EVERY practice. How many TD's have we missed because of this ???

There are different types of passes that travel over 20 yards.

Tannehill is pretty accurate throwing the ball on a line, but when he has to lead a WR on a go, his accuracy has been problematic.

Stats schmats....all I know is what I see watching the games and that is Tannehill continually misses Wallace on the deep ball. When they have connected, Wallace has had to wait on the ball. Not once (that I can recall) has Ryan overthrown him. Missed a big play down the sideline yesterday that was horribly underthrown. I like Tannehill but he needs work on that part of his game

Wasn't Wallace hobbling around with a groin injury during training camp and preseason? This may be why they don't seem to be on the same page. Also his old QB...Big Ben...throws off a lot of defenders, which gave Wallace all day to get deep. I don't think Tanny can throw it as far as Big Ben, but he should be able to hit Wallace in stride 30 or 40 yards downfield.

Tannehill has never once, that I can think of, Overthrown Wallace but has overthrown Hartline at least 3 times I can think of this season. Too far for Hartline, too short for Wallace. WTF?
Put Hartline in blackface= problem solved. Do it while Ted Wells is snooping around. What can go wrong?

Sarcasm overload?

But after 11 weeks, you would think the timing would improve. I would love to see him hit Wallace in stride, even if it was only ten or fifteen yards. Even on some throws to Hartline, Brian has to wait for the ball.

You have to consider some of those deep passes are with pressure in his face where he can't step into the throw. Also rolling out to avoid pressure and throwing on the run. These affect your accuracy big time. I will say RT has missed on throws where he has a clean pocket too. Stats only tell part of the story

I remember someone trotting out those stats at the end of last year and it seemed like an incredibly empty stat. It's the kind of stat that completely conflicts with the eyeball test. Ryan's never been a consistent deep ball thrower. I was really hoping that would be something he developed.

you do realize wide receivers get paid to catch?

Even before we signed Mike Wallace, it was well known that he was a body catcher with bad hands. Other than the over-the-shoulder go route catches, Mike Wallace has always been a body catcher. The QB has to hit him between the numbers. Roethlisberger & the Steelers understood that, and were able to use his strengths, work around his weaknesses, and turn Mike Wallace into the premier deep threat in the NFL.

Tannehill, Sherman, and many fin fans still don't get it, and still act perplexed when Mike Wallace isn't snaring balls out of the air like Larry Fitzgerald.

"..Wallace is a dependable receiver, but most evaluators would describe him as a "body catcher." He prefers to trap and cradle the ball against his chest rather than snatching the ball cleanly out of the air.."

Just because you throw $60 million at Mike Wallace, doesn't mean that he'll suddenly become Calvin Johnson. He is who he is. Don't act surprised that he's not a jump baller, and that he doesn't have much of a catch radius.

Ultimately, Mike Wallace might not be a good fit for Miami (Tannehill doesn't have an accurate deep ball, and body catchers with bad hands don't do well in west coast offenses). Greg Jennings probably would have been a better fit.

Then our coaches are idiots !!!

I just think he is having trouble anticipating Wallace's speed.

He needs to let Wallace run for it! Similar to his throw in the Bengals game when Newsome was called for the Interference.
