Team Needs (Miami Dolphins from Bleacher Report)

Number one Fire Grier
Number two Fire Grier
Number three Fire Grier
Then the new GM might have a clue and draft good young players to play OL. If Grier is still in charge the draft won’t matter. It will be full of projects and injury prone rising stars and not a single amazing OL for sure!
So true, unless Grier is fired, then nothing else matters. As you said he will draft projects and injury prone players.

Drafting another OT after we invested a second rounder on Paul ? That'd be a mistake or that would be accepting getting Paul was a mistake.
Need more than one OT. Our backups are average, and Paul can lock down one side, and the new draftee can lock down the other side.

QB for sure. But I am not a fan of drafting QB’s high just to draft them. The league is so QB driven it is hard not to, especially when you don’t have one that’s reliable.
I dont think we will be drafting higher than 8 or 9, and I also dont think the qb class is that stellar, however, if, and its a big if, the No 1 qb does fall to Miami, it would depend on what OT is there. Its a strong Defensive class and OT class IMO, so Miami may sit and see what falls. I would prefer Miami to take OT, as that is the biggest need. The qb class will have a number of good options in the 2nd round.

Firing Grier has to be the first priority. This guy and his front office cannot have any input on another draft. As for needs, this roster is never winning a championship . Too soft! They can’t compete in cold games. I’d fire sell damn near all of them. I said it after last season, we should have traded Tua instead of giving him a contract. Now no one would be willing to trade for him.

Hard to say until we get closer to the draft. If we are in the top 5-10 QB is in play. If we are 15-20 I’d say guard or DT if Tua makes it through the season without getting hurt again. Even then I’d get a backup quarterback in the second or third round.

If Miami drafts ~#5, I suspect the odds are <50/50 they draft a QB.

Maybe but I don’t think that’s a plausible reality. We are currently 13th and I’m not sure things could have gone any worse. With Tua almost certainly coming back, unless he goes down again (praying to god that doesn’t happen 🙏) I don’t see any reality we even pick top 10 let alone top 5. Even with a loss to the colts, we won’t be higher than 13th with Tua coming back and the 3rd easiest remaining schedule.

Even the teams ahead of us, I don’t view the chargers, broncos or colts as locks to stay ahead of us in the afc. The nfl is really bad this year, doesn’t appear to be a ton of quality, consistent teams.

Don't disagree. My point was Miami won't draft a QB R1. I used #5 as an example

We should hope that Chubb returns to play before the trade deadline.

His cap hit this year is about $15M. The Lions have about $28M in cap space.

Maybe we could get a 2nd round pick.

Few teams have needed a bye week as badly as the Miami Dolphins did this week. The 2024 season has quickly become a disaster. They are only 2-3, but it somehow feels worse than even the record would indicate.
Miami ranks near the bottom in nearly every offensive metric and can use the week off to get healthier, recuperate and figure out a plan for the offense. If they can do that, they might be able to eke out enough wins to be relevant if and when Tua Tagovailoa comes back this season.

Biggest Weaknesses:
  1. Quarterback
  2. Interior Offensive Line
  3. Interior Defensive Line
  4. Wide Receiver Depth
  5. Tight End

Add Now: EDGE Shaq Lawson
Tua Tagoaviloa's injury isn't the only thing that has derailed the Dolphins' season. They're also dealing with a rash of injuries on the edge that includes Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb. Phillips was lost for the season to a torn ACL in Week 4 and Bradley Chubb is still on the PUP list.
The Dolphins really shouldn't be giving up draft capital to compete this season. The injuries have given them a difficult road to hoe, but signing a veteran free agent who could help them put themselves in a position to complete.

2025 Free Agency: LB Jamien Sherwood, New York Jets
Anthony Walker Jr. and David Long Jr. are both set to be free agents this offseason. Long should potentially be brought back because he is playing well, but the Dolphins could bring in a younger third linebacker than Walker.
Jamien Sherwood is doing good things with the Jets. The emerging linebacker will be 25 years old when he hits the market next season. If the Jets aren't interested in giving him a market contract, then the Dolphins should be looking to sign him away from their division rival.

2025 NFL Draft: OT Will Campbell, LSU
The only silver lining in the disappointing start to the Dolphins season is that it might wind up giving the Dolphins a top-10 pick. When healthy, this roster is not a bottom-10 group, but the reality is they might be too deep into the injured reserve to turn things around.
If that's the case, the Dolphins would need to strongly consider drafting an offensive tackle who can bolster the offensive line. Protecting Tagovailoa is going to be a priority moving forward and Campbell is one of the best offensive linemen in the draft class.
(Previous Week's Selections: QB Russell Wilson (trade), IOL Will Fries, S Lathan Ransom)
So they list our biggest weaknesses, then proceed to suggest 3 players that do not address our weaknesses.

Where did I put those pills??

If Miami drafts in the top 10, the season would have been an utter failure and a QB must be had. It may not be a first rounder if the top 3 best are gone but certainly a tier 2 prospect. We can't go through this BS of not having a decent backup. Hunley looks promising but he's been around for awhile. He did not bite as a pup though.
