Team Needs (Miami Dolphins from Bleacher Report)

It might be better for Miami, to fill its needs at WR #3 and OG through F/A. With these positions being two of the weaker positions in the 2025 draft, F/A could be the short term answer? The draft is loaded on defense, and is very deep at the Edge, DT and RB positions. So it could the answer to Miami's needs at these positions. The F/O certainly has its work cut out for them. As long as Tua remains on the roster, I think finding QB #2, becomes a lesser priority over the other needs. Which could mean, Miami looks beyond round one for a backup QB.

Chiefs and Ravens are probably the teams I'd most like to mimic. Both also have really good defenses to go along with dynamic offenses.

Hard to have that complete team, but both really do.

Mahomes and Jackson are obviously two of the best. They might be 1-2, although Jackson has to prove himself in the postseason.

I do think Miami currently has more issues on offense than defense. Tough to win with the interior offensive linemen the Dolphins have.

But if the team loses Campbell, Ogbah and if Phillips isn't the same player, that's a lot of needs suddenly on defense.

Maybe free agency is about offensive line and draft defense early 🤔
That's my take as well F/A for OL and WR. The draft for DE, DT, QB and RB

Few teams have needed a bye week as badly as the Miami Dolphins did this week. The 2024 season has quickly become a disaster. They are only 2-3, but it somehow feels worse than even the record would indicate.
Miami ranks near the bottom in nearly every offensive metric and can use the week off to get healthier, recuperate and figure out a plan for the offense. If they can do that, they might be able to eke out enough wins to be relevant if and when Tua Tagovailoa comes back this season.

Biggest Weaknesses:
  1. Quarterback
  2. Interior Offensive Line
  3. Interior Defensive Line
  4. Wide Receiver Depth
  5. Tight End

Add Now: EDGE Shaq Lawson
Tua Tagoaviloa's injury isn't the only thing that has derailed the Dolphins' season. They're also dealing with a rash of injuries on the edge that includes Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb. Phillips was lost for the season to a torn ACL in Week 4 and Bradley Chubb is still on the PUP list.
The Dolphins really shouldn't be giving up draft capital to compete this season. The injuries have given them a difficult road to hoe, but signing a veteran free agent who could help them put themselves in a position to complete.

2025 Free Agency: LB Jamien Sherwood, New York Jets
Anthony Walker Jr. and David Long Jr. are both set to be free agents this offseason. Long should potentially be brought back because he is playing well, but the Dolphins could bring in a younger third linebacker than Walker.
Jamien Sherwood is doing good things with the Jets. The emerging linebacker will be 25 years old when he hits the market next season. If the Jets aren't interested in giving him a market contract, then the Dolphins should be looking to sign him away from their division rival.

2025 NFL Draft: OT Will Campbell, LSU
The only silver lining in the disappointing start to the Dolphins season is that it might wind up giving the Dolphins a top-10 pick. When healthy, this roster is not a bottom-10 group, but the reality is they might be too deep into the injured reserve to turn things around.
If that's the case, the Dolphins would need to strongly consider drafting an offensive tackle who can bolster the offensive line. Protecting Tagovailoa is going to be a priority moving forward and Campbell is one of the best offensive linemen in the draft class.
(Previous Week's Selections: QB Russell Wilson (trade), IOL Will Fries, S Lathan Ransom)
the biggest need for this team is a real GM

A draft that is deep at a position means you can get that talent with later picks.

Drafting defense in rd 1 or 2 is a serious mistake that we continue to repeat.

You may as well keep Grier if this is what you want.

What does team needs is an enema. First piece of **** washed out should be named Grier

Whatever position we draft, we need impact players at so many areas on this team.

When you go through the list of 1st/2nd round players we’ve taken since 2020, who’s an impact player? Tua when he’s healthy and not playing a top 10 defense? A # 2 WR? An edge rusher who’s had back to back season ending injuries and retired from college football briefly because of injuries? Or a bunch of a marginal starters?

That’s problem #1. Let me clarify, Grier and his inability to draft impact players is problem #1.

I'm going OL for first 2 picks plus some vet FAs but I'm signing a vet FA QB this offseason. 2026 draft is where I'm looking for the QB.

Not saying yours is bad, I just think it's much more important to solidify this libe before putting anyone back there worth a damn...
What’s different about what I said and what you said? I said OL and QB is all that matters… looks like we are in congruence on that.

I don’t follow college much, but from most people here they’re saying the better QB prospects are in ‘26 so sounds like your plan is perfect…

Oh sorry man, I thought you were saying you'd pick a qb first before picking o line. That's why I was saying for me, I'd strictly pick o line with my first 2 picks.

Drafting another OT after we invested a second rounder on Paul ? That'd be a mistake or that would be accepting getting Paul was a mistake.
I think the OT in question is Jackson. He is not good. In 5 NFL seasons he has never played above an average NFL starter level. Meanwhile, he has had some atrocious games in that span and this year he has been terrible. Personally speaking, if I was the new GM I’d give Jackson the boot. Paul at the very least has plenty of upside and 3 more years of a cheap rookie contract.

Now you have baited Chad, Gryphon, Meka and co with that guard reference 😂
The talent levels of the OG and QB positions in 2025 aren't as high as on the defensive side of the ball. It's a huge gamble selecting one of those two positions due to fan hype the QB position is getting and the lack of first round talent at OG. Stay with the strength. JMO.

Did you forget the part we just extended him for 3 years?
