Tebow on the Trade Block, Miami Dolphins a possibility

I find it funny how I see people talking about trading for other teams garbage 2nd and 3rd team TE'S, but wouldn't even give the time of day for trading for a guy like Tebow with what it would cost pick or player wise to get him.

Majority of people who would be against getting Tebow for a 6th or 7th or even for Merling, are obviously against the trade for reasons other then Football.

I can't possibly see how he could help this team... all his presence would do would tempt the staff towards "W-Cat" formations.

I know he's got a place in the heart of Floridians, but come on. There is no reason to believe he will be successful in this league...
I'm totally opposed to this position.
Given the case, Tim Tebow might enter and fit very well on this team. Not as QB, but as TE/FB, something close to what Daboll is planning for Charles Clay. Think on him as solution for our red zone inefficiency.

yeah...its called we understand the financial and cap implications...

haha obviously you don't.

do tell then...he's a former top 25 first round pick in the old cba and qbs ALWAYS got much better contracts than other position players...your gonna pay him a first round qb base salary for a guy your developing as your 3rd qb...thats a little nuts...

and all these same people who say just make him a te hback fb whatever just like the just make terrell pryor a te he's got the body etc i can count on one hand in the last 10 years how many college qbs turned something else in the pros have ever amounted to being worth the ink on their rookie contracts...you got a better chance looking for a kneedle in a haystack...

tebows a quality kid a natural leader and i wouldn't mind developing him a little further before i gave up on him...but for a 3rd qb a first round money contract in trade??? hells no

if its true he's got this $6 mil bonus coming up with denver that they don't have to pay him if they release him your nuts to trade for him when you can wait til he's cut and then pick him up for free...and at a much better cap and financial rate...a developmental qb rate which is exactly what this kid is...a developmental project at this point

i DO think there is a place for him in the nfl. he is a very talented athlete, fast, smart, strong and LOTS of heart!!

and the media has been lib'ng up on him since day one because of politics and religion [those cherised rights we are guaranteed in the constitution]. and they would be doing it even MORE if he was tearing up the nfl.

i see a TE. and a damn good one, expecially for a w-coast based offense. there is SO much more you can do with a guy like tebow and the way daboll has used his TE's in the past and some of his wildcat [we will be using some of it weather tebow is here or not] can be a real plus for a creative team. running, catching or throwing out of different packages.

tebow is way, way to good of an athlete and has to much talent to just cast aside. and if were not talking anything over a 6th and NO starting qb plans i am all for it. he is a leader, a great kid and coachable. cant have to many of those types on your team!!

ck detailed his contract earlier in the thread... it's not that overwhelming, 4 years and 6.5 million guaranteed or something like that... could be 8 million if he gets 45% of the snaps. Pretty sure that equates to about what a backup quarterback generally makes int his league, maybe not a 3 but certainly a 2

If he can help this team that a plus, if he can help feel the stands for this team thats a plus (he will do that), if he cost us more money than he should as a 3rd string QB that is a minus, if he can help score TD's in the red zone like he did for Denver thats a huge plus for this team and that would help fill the stands and offset all the money it would cost to sign him that would be a plus, as far as his religion standards if it helps keeps him out of the bars, affairs and thugery that goes on with some of these NFL players that a plus also. So far I see a lot more on the plus column than I do no the minus column. Opps and it might cost a low round draft pick that would be a minus unless it turns out to be a steal which would then be a plus.

You do realize tebow signed for only 9.75M over 5 years right? 23.25M through incentives but 9M of them are 'unlikely to be earned'. That's pretty cheap for a QB that could possibly be a franchise one. Not bashing or anything, I respect your opinion. Plus that bonus would be paid by the broncos if traded here. All the guarantees are paid by the broncos. We'd only be on the hook for about 12M of tebow's salary for the next 4 years. Low risk.

Like I said, you obviously don't know his financial implications.

In a nutshell. He would count about 1.5-2 million against our cap. 2 million for a project with plenty upside whether he fails or not is well worth the risk considering the upside and versatility he brings

Who cares if he'd make a decent TE?

It's gonna be a total circus around him, nowhere more than in the Miami Dolphins. If his leadership was so stellar, why did the veteran Denver players go to McDaniels to have Orton put back in as starter? Look how polarizing he is on this thread, without even being anywhere near Davie!

It doesn't matter that he's a talented guy, or a clean-living individual or an athletic marvel. He would cause more harm than good in Miami and likely at a cost that would make him bad value as well as a total distraction.

If another team takes him and makes something out of him, it still doesn't change the fact that he would be bad for the Miami Dolphins right now.

ok...fair enough...but i still don't think $6.5 mil guaranteed over the next 4 years on a developmental qb prospect is a good idea...especially when its one thats already been deemed a failure by the team that drafted him

but i guess this is what i get for not reading the thread...the financials are better than i expected...still not ideal imo...if he gets cut you can probably sign him to a $300k a year deal or something in that range and not have to put guaranteed money in it at all
