Temporarily Deny Access to the forums for Unregistered Users..

This access deny thing should be looked into, I cant wait untill this is all over with so that I can enjoy my favorite site again without the lag.

It would never be seen otherwise.. Plus, it takes about 30 minutes just to post, it probably would have taken an hour just to get to the proper forum and post..

Regardless, is this not feasible?

You may not think anyone pays attention this forum. But the staff certainly does. Constantly.

I don't think an additional click would have taken 30 minutes. And that's if you reached the main forum by way of the homepage preview box. Ergo, how long and how many precious system resources do you think it took for us to move it??

As to the issue, it was actually discussed yesterday and implemented today. The resulting relief was only temporary, as the site and the mail server were immediately hammered by the flood of new registration requests, mailers and activation/authentication attempts. And then the server was teeming again with registered members.

It's not a bad idea. But when you're at capacity, you're at capacity. There's nothing you can do about concurrent connections.

Please bare with us while we deal with the issue. We're working on a permanent resolution as we speak. :)
