The Saints will see some marginal improvement elsewhere in the draft, though. Loomis said that as the final piece of the trade that sent Reggie Bush to Miami last year, the Saints and the Dolphins will swap sixth-round picks in April.

So in the end, the trade looked like this:

Dolphins Got:

Reggie Bush
2012 6th round pick

Saints Got:

Jonathan Amaya
2012 6th round pick

Score one for Ireland and the Dolphins!

Ireland took some heat on Finheaven as usual when this trade first went down but guess he got the last laugh.

Wow, what a steal! I remember Ireland getting ripped for this by some folks on here, nice move Ireland keep it up.

Props 2Jeff where due for the one-sided trade and his vision of how to properly use Reggie!

That is a steal. Maybe it was dependent on whether fins got to the playoffs? Maybe then it wouldn't have been so great?

Some extremely drunk Saints fan I bumped into a while back was convinced we'd given a second rounder

good trade for the Dolphins of course

however, there is more to it for the Saints. They signed Sproles for less than what Bush cost, and got some extra picks out of it. And of course Sproles fits their offense like a glove.

So in reality, the Dolphins gave marginal assets away for a free agent- they had no intention of resigning him.
