Terms of Reggie Bush trade revealed

good trade for the Dolphins of course

however, there is more to it for the Saints. They signed Sproles for less than what Bush cost, and got some extra picks out of it. And of course Sproles fits their offense like a glove.

So in reality, the Dolphins gave marginal assets away for a free agent- they had no intention of resigning him.
They didn't get extra picks. They moved up 20ish spots in the 6th round

Thanks Nub. I had been discussing this with CK and a few others in the draft forum. Many people were saying we gave up a 4th rounder in this deal, but a 6th sounds like a great deal. All reports kept saying we gave up an "undisclosed" draft pick to the Saints but there wasn't any other info.

We didn't even give up a 6th rounder we just swapped right?

Bush wasn't going to be a free agent was he? He was under NO control, right? They might have released him, but then we would have had to compete for his services.

When Ireland does his thing with out the Tuna around, he does pretty well. I like how this is going to shape up.

Philbin handling the team, Ireland handling the talent.

Yeah, I'd say that based on Reggie's performance this season, that was a damn good trade.

Whew. There was an urban legend on this board, without proper citation, that Miami gave up a 4th and got back a 6th. Thank goodness that was all wrong.

MIA not only got a playmaker w/speed. But got a back who, himself, said he rather get back on grass.

MIA and Ireland did very well in this trade. I was hoping MIA ended up with Bush or Sproles. Getting Bush for a 6th, locking him up for 2 years without having to compete for his services. Was a HELLUVA job by Ireland. The *****s will always be there, but the proof is in the pudding. Ireland is more than capable of doing this job.:brewskis:

New Orleans just wanted to rid themselves of the contract. They got ripped off without including numbers.
