Texans are "seriously considering" letting Mario Williams walk

If we get Mario Williams and Cam Wake on the field at the same time, it will cover up almost every hole that we have in the secondary... You don't need to cover very long with those 2 guys going after the QB. If we make a splash in FA with a guy Like Williams, then we can sign a chaeper guard and go balls to the wall after RG3 in the draft. I'd be very happy with an off season like that.

pass rush is the key to this league now, with the hanging of the rules. Only consistency in hitting the QB and making them rattled for turn overs will be able produce success on defense. Getting him imo is worth any price including losing langford and cutting some others. I would easily be fort this move.

This is the one guy i was hoping we would go after. I really hope we move to a 4-3 and this guy would be a perfect DE opposite Odrick. Put Starks and McDaniel at DT and that is a sick line. Tell Solai to go rape someone else for Wilfork type money. He is NOT anywhere near Wilfork's level yet wants to get paid like that. Then you decide if Wake can play OLB in a 4-3 or not. I think Williams is an impact player and Solai is a gap filler at times. No brainer who is a dominant every down player and who is a 2 down player at best. We have the money to spend - Solai's 12+M alone can pay for Williams and another stud player if the contracts are structured right.

There's no way Odrick is a 4-3 DE... Maybe sometimes on first down, but he just doesn't have the quickness or pass rush ability to get it done as a 4-3 end consistently.

Our 4-3 defense with Mario Williams would look like this:

DE : Williams
DT : Odrick
DT : Starks
(Both rotating with Langford/Merling if we re-sign Langford)
DE : Wake

OLB : Burnett
MLB : Dansby
OLB : ??? (one outside linebacker spot would be a huge hole, I guess we could try to convert Misi but I doubt he could do it)

I'd sign him and give him a part 2 commercial with the parking meter guy, vegas babyyyyy

There's always the chance of signing Tulloch to be the MLB. That would give us a sick Defense that could bring pressure from everywhere!!! I still want a QB so I don't know if we could fit all this under the Cap.

Sign him we would not only get a premiere pass rusher, but the #1 and #2 overall picks in their draft class. (Reggie Bush was #2)

I doubt this happens, but if the Texans are dumb enough to let him walk, I'll gladly take him. 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB, it doesn't matter. A player as dominant as Mario will thrive in any defensive scheme.

If we resign Langford? Don't you mean if we resign Merling? Which we better not!

what would he be asking for $ wise? letting Langford and Soliai walk should open up enough cap for Williams. it would almost rule out Manning though.

its interesting...but its also risky...torn pecs reoccur on the regular it seems...risky risky risky

Mario Williams is the one F/A that I'd break the bank for ... not only is he still young, but he is an ALL PRO Type player at a position of need for Miami ... I'd rather sign Williams and Draft a QB at #8 or #9, even if it's considered a reach ... Players like Williams don't make it to Free Agency to often ...

this is a guy i can see the jets being hot after if he becomes free...which despite reed and barwins success this year i'm still not sure i see them letting williams go..my guess is they'll tag him and retain him for one more year nd see if he stays healthy in 2012 before deciding what to do with him in 2013
