You are proving my point for me. He looked great against inferior competition and bad defenses, but played piss poor in big situations against decent teams. Awe inspiring.
Same can be said about Matt Ryan.

I believe Matt Ryan was 10-2 as a senior at Boston College. He did throw a boatload of picks though.Same can be said about Matt Ryan.
Supporting cast has a lot to do with wins and losses in college. When evaluating a college QB you have to ignore their record. College Win/Loss record is not something that should be part of the projection formula.I believe Matt Ryan was 10-2 as a senior at Boston College. He did throw a boatload of picks though.

He lead the offense to 40 points... and it is his fault they lost. Yea no agenda here.
Dude they ran for 375 yards and 5 rushing touchdowns,
Tannehill didn't really lead anything.

You're right that the record on the surface doesn't really matter but how the QB plays in a loss means a lot. Tannehill had ample opportunity to put thw team on his back and lead them to victory, and he failed.
Like I said earlier, his supporting cast wasn't great but it didn't suck either. Fuller was disappointing but he still made a lot of plays that most receivers can't, Swope was awesome and A&M had 2 good backs.
How many passes did his receivers drop? You're right that the record on the surface doesn't really matter but how the QB plays in a loss means a lot. Tannehill had ample opportunity to put thw team on his back and lead them to victory, and he failed.

shhh don't you know a better qb would've ran down the field and caught the passes for them and then handed them the ball so they could run in the touchdown?J How many passes did his receivers drop?
The truth of the matter is that as an entire team, Texas A&M was not all that talented in 2011. Tannehill's receivers dropped a lot of passes and the defense blew a lot of big leads. If you can score 38 points, or even 50 points(Kansas State) and still lose, I think the blame should be placed on the defense. Yes, there were games where after the defense blew the big lead that Tannehill had chances to lead them back to victories and didn't, however in the grand schemes of things the offense should never have been put in those situations. The overall team talent level compared to some of the teams they lost to was not very good and Tannehill should be credited in the first place for creating the initial big leads. Tannehill was also only making his 10th career start at QB against Arkansas and only had 19 total career starts. He was and is still learning all there is to know about the position and continued to improve with more work. He has all the physical tools and the mental aspect to continue to grow into a very good quarterback. He will be a better pro than college QB.You're right that the record on the surface doesn't really matter but how the QB plays in a loss means a lot. Any dolphins fan who blames tannehill for losing games where his team scored 40 and gave up 41+ clearly must think marino sucked too.The truth of the matter is that as an entire team, Texas A&M was not all that talented in 2011. clearly brady choked. he should've ran down the field and caught the ball for welker.Tom Brady had a chance to win the Super Bowl and Welker dropped a ball. I guess Brady choked huh??? Every QB has a bad game here and there. Also, why would Tannehill throw the ball when the running game is working so well??? He has raw talent and needs a year to refine his skills, learn to make quicker decisions, and limit mistakes. He will be fine as long as our Defense isn't giving up 40 points a game!!!
