Texas A&M @ Arkansas Tonight on ESPNU (10PM PAC)

You guys act as if Im making this stuff up or misrepresenting the truth. Go back and watch the game, Tannehill played well in the first half (except for 1 awful pick) when the running game was dominant. In the second half when AR started scoring points and stopping the run a little bit Tannehill was wayyyyyyyyy less effective and didnt put the ball in the end zone once. I dont understand how what Im saying isnt true. He had a chance to win the game on the final drive and he choked there too.

Guy needs seasoning, but to pull out a few games in college and base his future prospects on them is assine. I could find games where even the best prospects choked as you say.

Insomnia, this is real life. Not madden. Tannehill doesnt need to win every game, win the heisman, complete 70% of is passes, break every record to be an elite prospect. Its about his ceiling, his physical tools, his arm, his intangibles. Your view is short sighted, you are acting like you expect him to be a great nfl qb right now, or he is a bust. People develop, they get better. Give our rook some time and let him play befoee you call for a replacement.

outside of one poorly thrown go route where the ball was too far inside (which is something i've seen plenty of evidence of in reviewing tannys games in 2011) i thought tanny played pretty well...first off jeff fuller made absolutely no effort to help his qb out on that throw yeah it needs to be either over the outside shoulder or out in front but jeff fuller had plenty of time while that ball was in the air to flow back inside and at least attempt to break up the pass...i mean fuller sold tanny out on that play...

the a & m d blows...plain and simple...they gave up large leads all over the place...as for the last drive yeah tanny missed swope 2 times on what looked like option routes but on 4th and 2 sherman decided to run the ball up the middle for no gain and the ball game...

i think the kid got a bad wrap for not finishing games in 2011...i just don't see those large leads being coughed up as being on the qb...to me it's about guys dropping the damn ball all over the place and the d blowing chunks in the second half of games especially...

I watched this game live during the season, and I knew that Tannehill didn't play well. This game was one of the reasons I have always pointed to as to why I didn't want him at #8. But now, upon watching the game on the DVR and studying every single A&M offensive play closely, I'm realizing that Tannehill didn't have the game that I originally thought he had.... It's even worse than I thought.
First of all, I'm sick of hearing about how Tannehill had no help last year. He had a very good running game, and Gray/ Michael absolutely shredded Arkansas in this game. He also had a very solid (but not great) receiving corps. Swope was an animal all year, Nwachukwu was a very good 3rd option, and while Fuller had his drops he still was good and he made a lot of plays with his size and athleticism that most receivers can't make.
Anyway, what essentially happened in this game is that (outside of one brutal interception) Tannehill played pretty well in the first half and A&M put up 35 pts before halftime... They finished with 38.
See, while Tanny's running game and his defense was controlling the game he looked solid, but in the second half when Arkansas started scoring and the A&M running game wasn't as dominant, the kid was a complete no show and he totally failed to put points on the board. Worst of all, Tannehill got the ball down by 4 with 1:40 left in the game with a chance to go win the game and look what he did with that opportunity. 4 AND OUT. Two badly thrown short passes behind Swope, an 8 yard scramble and a 4th and 2 run that was stopped at the LOS. PITIFUL. It really makes me sick how evaluators fall in love with pure physical tools, yet completely forget what players did in actual football games. After re watching this effort by Tannehill, I cannot FATHOM how he was a first round pick.
Like I've been saying all along, the best case scenario for Tannehill is to be a Hasselbeck or Garcia type of QB. Pretty good, athletic west coast qb that can win some games with a lot of help, but you DON'T want to ask him to carry your team and you certainly don't want to draft him 8th overall. Want to ask me why I want Matt Barkley? Go watch this game.

I haven't read the rest of the thread...but I bet you got scorched for being the messenger here.

After watching these three games this week, I too have not clue why this guy was a top 10 pick. He has athleticism...and that's it. He is in an offense where he had to make almost no reads. Just about everything I saw in the passing game was based on short passes and timing patterns. When he did throw long, they were almost always poor passes with no air under them.

Another thing....everyone is so happy about the WCO that Sherman run, I have to tell you; what I saw was one of the most boring offenses I have seen. They had a very good running game as you said, and that is really what moved this team. I think the first scoring drive in the one game, they didn't even throw a pass in the whole drive.

It will take time, but I am now more confident than ever that this guy was a complete reach and will be the end of Ireland...thank God!

He lead the offense to 40 points... and it is his fault they lost. Yea no agenda here.

Who gives a **** about the points. They came mostly from the running game. I was watching the QB...I could care less if he won or lost. The plain fact is this guy looked like crap. If it wasn't for Sherman, we would not have drafted this guy so high. Sherman laid his career here on the line...and he will pay for it.

The thing I really don't like with this kid is that it seams that he hasn't had to make reads very much. It appears that he mostly works on timing routes and throwing to a spot. Some of his picks you can see he looks right, then turns and just throws to a spot. He doesn't look.

The other issue is audibles. I almost never see him doing any checks at the LOS. This is the complete opposite of Luck. This is where I believe Luck will be a success and Tannehill will fail...Luck appears to be a "field general"...while RT is just another guy with athleticism...
