The 2006 Boston Red Sox Thread

Well on the bright side the Sox set the MLB record for most games in a row without making an error. Their D have been amazing this year, hopefully they keep it up. I love watching them catch a ball.

Great left side of the Infield with Gonzalez and Lowell, I was never a huge Lowell fan but I loved seeing Gonzalez field some balls and make some nice plays

I also liked Seeing Hanley repeatedly get on base tonight vs the team that brought him up and shipped him out

Hey I'm sure Hanley doesn't mind playing in FL. If he was still with the Sox he'd be in Triple A still.

Your right he would be, but that would be a mistake, kid is definitly the real deal.

Im very glad we have him instead of Gonzalez now, apart from his 0-29 slump he had he has been great with the bat, steals bases, and does a great job with the glove....only thing I regret is that we dont have Beckett

I don't think it would be a mistake for Hanley being in Triple A if he was still on Boston, especially after his bad year in Double A. The kid has talent but he's still a work in progess. I doubt he would have gotten off to the fast start if he was in Boston.

Since FL wasn't considered to be in the playoff race they could afford to have rookies like Hanley play even if they weren't ready for the major league. That stuff would never fly in Boston.

No it wouldn't. He's clearly not ready to be an everyday player yet (he wasn't even very good in AA Portland last year. If he was still with the Red Sox he might have not even been in AAA Pawtucket this year). Also, from what little I've seen of him, he's definitely not "great with the glove".

Please, the overhyping of Hanley Ramirez at this point in his career is getting ridiculous. The way some of you Marlin fans are hyping this kid, you'd think he's the next Ernie Banks. Why don't you just relax and let him develop.

I just think its sad when a kid with a lot of potential stays in the minors and is 26 or 27 when he finally gets up and his career isnt as long as it could have been

It wouldnt be a mistake for Boston to have him down there, but it would just be terrible for Hanley

Early in the year he made a few errors, but he has been more than solid lately

He is definitly an everyday player, he had one slide this season where he went 0-29 but he is hitting again, and other than that stretch he hasnt had a single problem in the majors (and he steals bases)

Well Hanley wasn't very good in the minors last year and didn't really give them any reason to call him up. The kid is still 22 years old. Hanley fell in love reading his name in the paper everyday and got into a poor work habit and an attitude which many felt lead to him struggling because he felt that his talent alone could get him the numbers.

Well he is performing now, and I havent heard a single thing about him having bad ethic here, maybe Boston was to loose in the clubhouse or something, he seems like a really good kid, this is the best fit for him, and I wouldnt want him anywhere else

Look, you're obviously happy with Hanley. We're happy with Beckett and Lowell.

Why don't we just leave it at that? Why do you feel the need to come into our thread and throw Hanley in our face?
