why is it that people are getting on Manny? saying he owes the fans? so he should play in a game that doesnt count for his team while being slightly injured what so ever.

people just love to complain. :shakeno:

I know I don't care. manny is my fav. Red Sox.

A few notes:

Wily Mo Pena went 2 for 3 yesterday in Triple A including hitting a homer. He's batting .375 (6 for 16) in 4 games so he could be called up any time now, with my guess Willie Harris being sent down.

Matt Clement had a set back in his rehab so who knows when he'll be back.... or cares.

David Ortiz is battling a sore wrist. He says it doesn't hurt when he swings but the Sox should make him drop out of HR Derby. I believe he hurt his back in last years. It's just not worth it.

Manny Ramirez is dropping out of the All-Star game to rest his injuries.

The rotation for after the All-Star Break: Wakefield, Beckett, Schilling, Lester and Johnson.

We have 10 days to get a new pitcher or replace Johnson with Snyder.

No way we give Johnson another start.

Who's getting on Manny?

I still think Johnson is better than Snyder, therefore Snyder isn't the answer but you're right Johnson shouldn't get another start.

I don't really want to trade any prospects (i.e. Freddy Sanchez) for pitchers that won't help (i.e. Jeff Suppan) the Sox down the road. There really aren't a lot of pitchers on the market, a few that come to mind: Greg Maddux, Livan Hernandez, Mark Redman, Kip Wells, etc. None of those names jump out at you that you'd want to give a prospect or two for.

So the Sox need to replace 1 pitcher in the rotation, I'd say that's pretty good considering some teams in the race need to replace 2 or even 3 spots. At least the Sox have options in the minors such as Snyder, Alaveras, and DiNardo.

honestly i thought the sox would pull away early. corcoran didn't look too great at first and was wild with his placement. the sux normally tear up guys like that. oh well. :) he settled down and the bullpen was great. i have no idea why ortiz struggles so much against the rays.

I agree with you. The Sox had Corcoran on the ropes. He looks pretty bad to the first hitters, but I think Loretta helped him out swinging at the 2-0 pitch and fouling it off, the guy couldn't fine the plate, he should have let Corcoran throw some strikes, if Loretta walks in that situation I believe Corcoran wouldn't have gotten out of the 3rd. Manny's DP killed the Sox for good and it was all downhill from there.

Figures. They're never happy. They'd be the first people killing Manny if he went on the DL or went into a big time slump because his knee was bugging him from not resting it.

I really don't care if Manny plays the game or not or if someone else takes his slot on the team but IMO he should at least show up so the fans can see him. He was the leading vote getter in the AL if I'm not mistaken and IMO that means he should at least be in Pittsburgh chillin out, even if he's not playing!

just Manny being Manny

You mean hitting a home run tonight? Yup that's our Manny.

Nice to see the Sox wake up and finally win a game this week. Ortiz woke up tonight too. The Rays shift worked in Ortiz's 2nd at bat but after that Big Papi got mad and beat the shift the only way he can, by putting the ball into the stands.

Anyway a tough series vs. the White Sox. Lester, Beckett and Schilling are going up against Buerhle, Garcia, and Contreas. Should be a VERY interesting series. I'm curious to see what Lester does against a good offensive team and also the other match ups on Saturday and Sunday are really good.

Should be a interesting weekend with lots of offense they way these teams are hitting lately.. I have never been a big fan of Thome, but this guys is no doubt of the best hitters in the game.. When healthy his power is crazy to all fields.

How can you not be? If he's healthy, he's one of the premier power hitters in baseball. He's a great player and he's proving it once again this year with his absurd numbers.

Just about the only knock on the guy at the dish is his strikeout problem, but that kinda comes with the territory.

Thome and Dye are great players, but I'm not nearly as high on Konerko.

Easy series for the White Sox, I smell a White Sox sweep :D

If you're going to post in this thread, at least try to add something insightful.

Your lame one-liners are old and ineffective (like the Yankees, ).
