Have to put a lot of the blame on Timlin and Delcarmen too. They came in and sucked. Timlin has been really bad recently. Johnson pitched a very good game and deserved to win.

Absolutely terrible.

Man I can't really blame this one on Papelbon, he isn't unhittable.. Darn Delcarmen and Timlin, who has been garbage blow this one away..

Even with his 4th blown save I'll still take him on my team over anyone in baseball not named Rivera. His era is still under 1 which is freakin' amazing considering he's only giving up 4 runs all year.

Well as if anyone didn't know what the outcome of this game was going to be. A terrible display by the bullpen (mostly on Timlin and Delcarmen) and the bats went silent when they needed a hit the most. Again Loretta HAS to make the pitcher throw a strike before he swings the bat. Especially after Coco steals over the first pitch which was a ball. Loretta has to make the pitcher work because if he ever walks Loretta he has to pitch to Ortiz.

A day off tomorrow and then moving on to KC where the Sox should sweep or at least take 2 out of 3. Although they should have taken 2 out of 3 vs. Tampa but they couldn't do that. Man do they suck lately.

Well Theo wanted to stick with the youngsters in the pen (Note: I'm only referring to Delcarmen and Hansen) and it seems to be blowing up in his face.

Hansen has been trash.. he hasn't proven anything in the bigs outside of one very nice inning in Chicago last month. Craig is still living off his St. John's and Minor League hype. Delcarmen was very good for a couple of weeks, but he's coming back to earth now too. Timlin has been painful to watch over the last month, something I didn't expect because he's been excellent for us since signing a few years back.

Tito can't keep asking Papelbon to get these 4, 5, or even 6 out saves because the rest of the guys in the pen aren't doing their job on a consistent basis.

Oh well, Theo made the call that the relievers on the trade market this year were too expensive and would have had a negative effect on the long term plans of the organization (reasoning I think that we all agreed with), so now we have to live with what we got...

I agree 100%.

Hansen hasn't been this year. No question he has electric stuff but remember the kid is 22 or 23 years old. He still needs to learn how to pitch.

Timlin has been down right bad lately. He needs to step it up like he did last year. Maybe we're asking too much of him who is over 40 years old. You have to wonder how much he has left in his arm.

Delcarmen has been bad recently because he hurt his thumb and thus can't snap his curveball off for a strike. So teams are just waiting on his fastball and teeing off on him.

I'm glad Theo didn't do any stupid moves at the deadline trading away good prospects for decent relievers who might not even help. Did anyone want Roberto Hernandez or Jose Mesa? Seanez and Taveras are trash. I don't know why they're on this team.

And yes the team can't expect Papelbon to get 4, 5 or 6 out saves every time out. Papelbon has been asked to get more than 3 outs 11 times this year. He's been great this year but he's only going to need help and his middle relievers need to start pitching well.

I give Theo credit for putting together a good line up every year and building up the farm but he's been pretty bad building a bullpen.

Man this Sox bullpen sucks. Hansen and Seanez have killed the Sox chances of winning this game tonight.

#41 for Ortiz, at least someone is consistent on the team.

These next 2 AB's with 1 out in the 9th with Coco on 2nd should be fun.. Lets go Papi and Manny..

Agreed this is brutal.. Our pitching better pickup quick or even if we make it to the postseason we are gonna get smoked..

It's unbelieveble how bad they have been playing for a month now. I know that historically the Sox never play well in KC but these are games you have to win. The Royals suck and the Sox barely beat them in Fenway.

The bullpen is a mess. I still think Schilling and Beckett can carry the team but the rest need to step it up. Lester was ok tonight but he's throwing way too many pitches early on in the game.
