Oh man, I can't wait to see this kid pitch!

He could very well develop into a dominant lefty (sounds nice, doesn't it?). Thank god the Front Office used their heads and didn't ship this kid to Florida in the Beckett deal.

I'm now very excited for Saturday.

And just think how much better Saturday would be if Beckett didn't suck his last 2 starts? This is the future of the Red Sox, hopefulyl both have good games.

Saturday night/Sunday morning might be a very very good times for a Red Sox fan.

Jon Lester WILL pitch Game 1 on Saturday vs. Texas with Beckett throwing on Saturday night for Game 2. Clement will pitch Game 3. David Pauley is the odd man out, so I guess it doesn't mean anything for a rookie to shut down the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium to skip his turn to let Clement last 3 innings and give up 6 runs. Oh well....

awesome.. thanks for the update

We'll see how it goes..

And that's why Tek should be batting 8th. He's a rally killer. You have Wright on the ropes and all they can get across is 1 run. Terrible. :shakeno:

If we lose to this piece of trash Jared Wright for a 2nd time this season, then I don't know what to say.

The first time he pitched against us at Fenway, we beat ourselves. Tonight only through the 1st inning and we've already got a good jump on beating ourselves. Also, don't forget Tuesday night, we beat ourselves.

Moral of the story, the Yankees aren't taking it to us, we just continually shoot ourselves in the foot. And it looks like Jason Varitek's abilities fell off the face of the earth (ala Bernie Williams). He could be DONE.

Letting Wright off the hook is just bad. He's a pitch who if he gets into trouble and gets out of it without giving up too many runs gets better as the game goes on. You have to keep pounding him. Which they aren't doing.

I agree we did beat ourselves on Tuesday nights game. It should have been a 6 to 1 Red Sox win with all the runners we left on base.

I take back everything bad I said about Varitek. He's our captain and our leader and by God we should never say another bad thing about him.... until his next at bat.

P.S. Where's Rocky now after Gonzo got a big RBI double????

:couch:

Gonzo played well tonight...I'll give him a pass for now

Good win tonight to avoid the sweep. However I'm not happy, the Sox played like crap the first 2 games. They should have left NY in first but hey that's baseball.

Bring on Texas now for a 4 game series. Wakefield going Friday, Lester Saturday afternoon, Beckett Saturday night and Clement on Sunday. 3 out of 4 would be nice.

Schilling pitched well, minus those 3 long balls. Good to see Papelbon pitching too, it's been awhile for him.

Great play by Manny, even better slide by DeRosa however he was still out and the ump blew the call.

Texas just had to go on and do it, they handed Papelbon his first "blown save" if you can even call it that...

Either way, it ended up pissing off Paps because he came back out in the 9th and struck out the side. Man, I love this kid.

Onto tomorrow, which is Jon Lester's big league debut.. who's excited?

EDIT: I thought the Yankees game was over :shakeno:

EDIT 2: Now it is, Boston back in 1st :D
