The 2006 Boston Red Sox Thread

Bad loss tonight. Jason Johnson actually didn't pitch a bad ball game tonight. He was in trouble in every inning but I'll take him going 5 plus innings and giving up only 3 runs. Craig Hansen needs to keep the game close, he can't go out there and give them 2 runs right off the bat. He just hasn't pitched well in July, hopefully he'll turn it around but I'm not certain he will this year. He obviously needs more work, remember he's a young kid and really hasn't learned how to pitch and use his 2nd and 3rd pitches.

C.C. pitched a good game tonight but I think if the ump doesn't blow the Youkilis play at the plate, the game would have been much different.

Looks like the Sox and Yankees will be in a tie for first now. It's going to be a good exciting summer.

The Sox have an easy schedule: Cleveland, Tampa Bay, Kansas City and Baltimore, they should increase their lead.

Should is the key word.

They have been playing like crap since the All-Star break though.

Ray do you see an one game playoff to decide to east? that would be awsome.

Well I think the race will come down to the last day, like last year. With 9 games left vs. each other (5 at Fenway and 4 at YS). It is very possible and it would be a very wild game no doubt. If that did happen then both teams would not make the playoffs.

We really have.. We need to get more consistent pitching, the Bats haven't been that bad.. Hansen I agree needs to rebound, he is getting hit hard lately.

Yeah, if they don't win a ton of games during this stretch their screwed. After they play Baltimore on the 14th they play Detroit for 3, the Yankees for 5, 3 @ Anaheim, 3 @ Seattle, 3 @ Oakland, then Toronto for 4 and the White Sox for 3 more. That's a tough stretch of games when your starting pitchng is in the state the Red Sox is!

Outside of Ortiz, Manny, Lowell and Wily Mo I think the bats have been just as inconsistent as the pitching. Youkilis was in a bad slump. Loretta ditto. Nixon, Varitek and Coco have been killing the team. And now with Mirabelli in the line up everyday the line up is that much weaker on the bottom. The team really needs to step it up.

That's a tough stretch for any team.

Need a good start from Lester tonight.. I am glad we wouldn't move this guy in any deal, left starters like this kid are hard to find.. He can be a 20 game winner if he can put it all together..

Im just wondering If I can Borrow David Ortiz for a minute

Mets are up 6-3 in the bottom of the 7th and we have the bases loaded 2 outs so how about it?

get back Loretta!

How about some Mark Loretta.. Clutch..

It's a good thing he got that hit or I would have been pissed. The pitcher is wild as hell and all over the place and Loretta swings at a 1-0 pitch with one of the greatest clutch hitters in the game on deck? Loretta for once got a hit in that situation, he always seems to come up with guys on and it could either be a 1-0 or 2-0 pitch and he'd just pop it up.

Anyway good win tonight for the Sox. They seem to be playing like the 2004 Sox a little. Always coming from behind to win games lately. Hopefully it will be the same outcome as 2004.

Does anyone else notice that Wily Mo has more HRs and RBIs in 3 games then Nixon had since June 28th? Hopefully Francoma gets that memo.

Sox have Beckett going tomorrow vs. Westbrook. Should be a good game and hopefully Beckett could get revenge on the Indians from last April's beating.
