The 2006 Boston Red Sox Thread

IMO four reasons the Red Sox take the divison

1- David Ortiz
2- Josh Beckett
3- Curt Schilling
4- Manny Ramirez

Pitching wins championships and you have two of the very best there are

the 2 thing that I'd be worried about with Beckett is that he has an ERA of 5, and his given up 31 HRs this year.

You know the team is playing bad when Devil Ray fans are making fun of them.

This is true.

They're just mad because there are more Red Sox fans in TB than TB fans. So like a loser, any chance they get to kick a dog when it's down they do it.

Boy I'll say it though, I am pretty surprised at how sh!tty this team is playing.

They don't have the right attitude out there and the only way things will turn around is if they start playing with a chip on their shoulder.

Actually, things won't start turning around until your guys pitching starts stepping up and stops relying on the bats to bail them out all the time. By the way, where's Faninpatsyland been? Haven't heard him whine about how the Yankees pitching stinks in a while!

I've been here all along, you can find me usually pointing out one of a Yankees' fans absurd posts with no logic behind it. I'm just sitting back not running around like my hair is on fire. They're just playing poorly right now, they have too much talent for this to continue. I still expect a playoff appearence be it via the WC or Division.

And I'm laughing at all the Yankee fans beating their chest right now, yup they're hot, but they aren't winning anything in October.

As far as the Yankee pitching sucking, it still does! The Big Useless finally pitched well last night, but that won't continue seeing as how he's horribly inconsistent. You guys had a 7-0 lead and won 7-6 thanks to the great Kyle Farnsworth, yet you are knocking the Red Sox pitching? That's the wonderful Pinstriped logic I mentioned earlier.

As a Red Sox fan, I'm not worried for several reasons..
1) The White Sox aren't good this year
2) The Twins don't have Liriano
3) The Red Sox aren't as bad as they have played lately
4) The Yankees aren't as good as they have played lately

we'll both be in the same boat in october. :)

Hey the season isn't over yet a lot could still happen, they could win the next 10 or 15 in a row. At least the Red Sox can say they have played meaningful games after April 3rd though.

 ... The Sox will bounce back, they're a good team, the race for east will be exciting in September, I want an one game playoff to decide the east.

Wow Wily Mo is a power hitter all right. I wonder why no one is talking about that Arroyo trade anymore. It's pretty funny we havent heard how terrible that Arroyo for Pena deal was for the Red Sox lately, even with the Sox struggles. Maybe because Arroyo is back down to his earth (hasn't won since June 12th) and Wily Mo is tearing the cover off of the ball?

Nah dude, the media, sports writers and Red Sox haters have been killing move all year, even as much as a few weeks ago. None of them realized that the move was not just for this year but for the future and that Wily Mo can play. And Arroyo is Arroyo, simply a 4th starter in the AL. Hell even he admitted the NL is easier to pitch in.

Reason #: 1928392 as to why Francona is a terrible manager. You don't take out one of your only power hitters (Pena) out of the line up for defense in the 7th inning of a game. That's a typical Grady Little move. Now the Sox are going to be down by at least 1 run in the 9th with Lowell, Kapler and Cora coming up.

Look I don't mind losing if the team is playing well and the other team is just better. But this is crazy. The Royals are a Triple A baseball team, they suck. The Devil Rays have some good young hitters but their playing is nothing special and the Sox couldn't beat them. If I wasn't go Mark Wohlers on the mound for Cleveland the Sox would have been swept. The team is just playing bad and flat. Not hitting with runners on. The pen is a mess. The starters aren't going deep enough into the game. This is some of the worst baseball I've been in my life.
