its what you have to do...any manager would have done that.

plus this is the major ****ign league...players should know how to bunt.

Here's the problem with bunting. If Youk bunts the ball and let's say Rivera throws the ball to first to get the out, you now have runners on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out. They'll walk Lowell (which they ended up doing anyway) and pitch to Kapler hoping for either a K or DP. If they get a K then they pitch to Mirabelli. Which is exactly what happened.

Youk is one of the better hitters on the team, I would have been swinging away in that spot. Plus Rivera was a bit wild and Youk has a great eye so maybe he could work a walk and have bases loaded and 0 out.

not sure i agree there... as objectively as i can view it...

You guys are dead not because you didn't pinch run for Papi but because of your pitching. The Yankees have exposed your pitching for the fraud that everyone knew it would eventually be as the season wore on. I mean seriously what are you guys going to do about your pitching? You don't have a day off until September 6th and you have to go out West for 9 games after getting roughed up by the Yankees. With that kind of schedule coming up, there's no doubt things aren't to get any better in Beantown anytime soon. Sorry guys but even Papi and Schilling can't bail you guys out of this one!

I'm not sure. You have to give the trade a little more time. Sanchez hasn't done much this year and the other two prospects are still in the minors so they're non-factors.

Hanley is having a nice season but besides from his SBs, his numbers aren't exactly great. He's had his highlights at times and may turn into the next Miguel Tejeda as some sports writers suggest but it's too early to tell.

Plus I think Beckett will be much better next season.

The pitching was exposed about 2 weeks before the Yankees even stepped into Boston.

11-1 against the Orioles
16-2 against the NL East
42-51 against the rest of the AL

Those numbers don't lie!

the Corporation isn't winning a title this year, so i don't quite know what you're gloating about...

I'm not gloating I am honestly shocked the Yankees have come into Fenway and done what they've done. I said I would be more then happy with winning 3 in this series but I am shocked the Yankees have taken the first 4, especially in the fashion they have. All I was doing by showing the Red Sox records against the AL is just to show that the numbers don't lie. Imagine where the Red Sox would be without what they did in Interleague and against the Orioles!

You have had Boston is a much worse situation before (Down 3 games to 0 in the ALCS) In the end you will be sitting home come october not even in the playoffs anyway so gloat now.

i think the fish got great value in that trade and will end up being the winners.....hanley is a stud and anibal should continue to improve....beckett is good but injury prone and lowell is solid but getting old.....thanks larry beinfest for your good work
