The 2006 Boston Red Sox Thread

I show no hate  Boston is my second favorite team

I agree its stupid to compare two championships with a team that is in it every year. I do think its kind of sad that Sox fans seem to be giving up already.....you realize just a 3 game winning streak at any point and you could be just 1.5 out again of the wildcard, its not out of reach yet

And the Marlins are probably my 2nd favorite team behind the Sox, that's why it's strange to see how many Marlin fans have come in here killing the Sox when they basically have no history with each other besides a few dozen interleague games where nothing eventiful (i.e. brawls) happened.

The reason why Sox fans are giving up is because they just don't have the pitching. When you only have 1 starter and 1 reliever who you can count on you're in trouble. Realistically the Sox can still win the WC but I think that in the playoffs it will just be a repeat of 2005, unless of course the Sox face Detroit. But even if they make it to the 2nd round, they're goners.

You would still probally be the best team in the national league

Hey you never know what could happen in a 5 game series, or even a 7 game series for that matter.

Did Manny really almost sit out a game because of the official scorer or was there more to that? because thats just pathetic for an athlete to do if its true

True about the NL.

Who knows with Manny. I doubt it though, he's getting an MRI on his knee/hamstring so he must be hurt. Especially since he hasn't played a full game since Sunday (2 days after the scoring thing happened).

If it's truth it wouldn't shock me either though.

Damn....very good series. Both teams played well the last 2 games. And both are teams fighting hard to catch their division leader. This(the down the strecth run) is where I feel the FAILURE for my Halos to sign a "bat" at the trading deadline is going to bite us in the a**.Great pitching like tonight, sometimes won't be enough to win you have to p[ut runs on the board.Btw you know it's going rough when you lose your first game in the bigs and still lower your ERA.

Sox need to at least take 2 out of 3, but most likely sweep vs. Seattle to get close to the WC as the Twins and White Sox play each other for 3 games this weekend.

So you're a Marlin fan? And you're saying the Red Sox won 1 "miracle" championship?

Please don't even try to compare the Marlins with the Red Sox.

And what's with all the hate from Marlin fans? I don't understand it.
Fact: The Marlins have more to show for the last 13 years than the Sox.
2 > 1.
That being said, I don't "hate" the Red Sox, just like I don't hate the Dolphins. What I do hate is both of those teams' delusional fanbases(the majority). Yes, the Red Sox won in 2004, and they had bragging rights for that whole year, deservedly so. But bragging rights are over now, the White Sox are the CURRENT champs...everything else is history, and history says the Marlins have won more rings than the Red Sox since their inception in 1993.

A Marlin's fan talking **** to a Red Sox fan. Pathetic.

Almost just as pathetic as a 4-choke fan talking **** to a Phin fan.

Get the hell out of our stadium, or better yet, move to another state.

Funny, the Marlins are the only Miami championship team that stadium has ever seen:sidelol: :sidelol:
oh, and the farthest the Dolphins ever got in YOUR stadium was the 1993 championship game, where they lost to..................guess who?

too easy

why are you talking football trash in a baseball thread, AND being smarmy about it? take it to the depths where you'll prosper...

anyhow, is no one talking about Ortiz' heart scare last weekend? scary stuff..

Yes the Marlins won more championships then the Red Sox since 1997, it's a fact that everyone knows but so what? The Marlins won 2 championships when the Braves won a million straight division titles and won 1 title. Does that make FL better? The Diamond Backs and Angels have more championships than the Yankees since 2001. Does that make them a better franchise? Hell no.

The Red Sox had more to show in their first 13 years then any other MLB team at the time. Again so what? The Sox won 5 titles before the Yankees ever won 1, does that make the Sox better than the Yankees? There's more to judge a team on just WS titles. I'm sorry but the Red Sox (IMO) are the 2nd most successful franchise in baseball (behind the Yankees). They might not have the most titles but you can't argue that they're the 2nd biggest draw at home and on the road (only behind the Yankees), sell a ton of mechandise and have a lot of history.

The Marlins have won 2 championships in their 13 year career. Good for them, they still can't draw a crowd and face a move to a different location every year. I'm sorry but comparing the Marlins to the Red Sox is a joke.

We gotta win tonight with Schilling on the mound. We'll pick up a game on someone in the wild card race.

After that ridiculous losing streak last week, we've removed basically any margin of error from the equation, meaning we can't miss oppotunities to gain ground in the division or wild card races. Especially this Seattle series, we gotta take at least 2 of 3 because Oakland has been playing some good baseball (like they do every year) post All-Star break.
