I just remember one particular Mary Contrary digging in on Wake solely because CFL players "never" successfully transition. But hell, we're all entitled to our opinions although that one was so adamant that I relish reminding him about the pitfalls of stereotyping whenever the occasion arises. Bottom-line though, to each his own, and I do know he's delighted he was proven wrong. :idk:

I suspect he's not been around, not because there wasn't too much to complain about in this draft, but more realistically because the government has had other plans for him.

I didn't like his chances. And if we insist on relying on unusual resume types we'll succeed in 5-7 games annually. The percentage is never zero...just not as high as Ireland believes.

Actually the 'development' of Wake upon his arrival or lack thereof was a big reason for my hate of Ireland and co. They CLEARLY misdiagnosed the player like some on here and WORSE would not change their minds even when it became ridiculously OBVIOUS... so either they were too afraid of Porter or their egos simply refused to admit their mistake... Neither is a good scenario.

Actually I recall that Wake was demoted to 3rd string upon his arrival to camp in his second year and then had to work his way BACK up again... That was not 'motivation' it was clearly an insult, especially to the one guy on the team who clearly did not need to be 'motivated'.

Truth is, as much as I hate Ireland this move to FINALLY pay Wake was a class act. People who are worried about overpaying should remember the bargain he was his first years here... In fact that contract was embarrassing... I wish that Ireland recognized it without Wake having to hold out... but fair enough, he got rewarded for excellent production EXACTLY as he should. It was not his fault that the TEAM sucked and wasted that production...

The guy was a consummate pro who would not be outworked and I expect more years of the same.
