The case for Vince Young

Why under center, wouldn't I want a clubhouse cancer who flips off fans, and becomes suicidal when he hears boos, with a history of injury and drunken barrom brawls having the IQ quick-wittedness of Corky from Life Goes On, as the gear that turns the offense's wheel?

It's hard for me to fathom any reason why not :idk:

They've had a propensity of putting average role players in the league, with the occasional shining star like Ricky or Earl. Colt McCoy is woefully inept at the QB spot, and is too fragile. They've won how many championships in the last 50 years? Hell, they've played in 22 Cotton Bowls and have only managed to win half of those contests. Not too great, considering it's basically a home game. Lot's of traditions, but not lots of success. In hoops, they have a few good wins every year and a few **** the bed moments, they're always at least a few people's picks to win it all, and then they just can't put it together and choke on the big stage. Not so sure I'd be proud of that. That team with TJ Ford comes to mind. Always pretty good, but never good enough. Baseball's probably their most successful program.
Exactly what powerhouse did you go to where one of the biggest football programs with huge success can be talked about like its a private schoolk?

Where I attended college at is irrelevant to this argument.

What "huge success" has Texas had? A .500 record in the Cotton Bowl game? 1 Crystal Football in 40+ years?

Mediocre is more like it.

Ha yeah right! I'm pretty sure Philbin was talking how we need more high character players. Vince Young is better off just playing on that dream team of his..

Hey! That would make him a perfect fit for the Jests!

For His Career

57.9 Completion Percentage
46 TD's to 51 INT's
12 Rushing TD's and 12 Fumbles Lost.
Never able to finish a season... injury, mental breakdown, benched.

Who is going to try and sell me on Vince Young? Honestly, Rex Grossman had more to do with the Bears getting to the superbowl than VY had to do with any of Tennessee's wins. Seriously, it makes me wonder whether or not people have watched him play or not.

I think Vince Young would be awesome! now if we could convince the Cleveland Browns.

It's kind of relevant. Im not gonna call a guy weak because he only benches 350 yet I wont get under the bar myself.Texas football- 2nd most winningest program in the country. 2nd most bowl appearances. 4th in bowl victories. We're always ranked. You might not be impressed that were not banging out championships every other year but we know how respected the program is.

It doesn't matter where I went to school. Just because you go to a school doesn't behoove you to root for them night and day. People shouldn't choose a school simply because it's their favorite team.

Texass is basically the SF Giants of college football. All tradition, nothing really to show for it, other than a few big names here and there, and then a token WS win.

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride. It's just not that impressive. They've got a big TV contract I guess, but that's kind of equivalent to driving a jacked up Dodge Ram without a muffler. "We don't win ****, but hey, we make a lot of money off of our TV contract!" "I have a small _________, but I drive this big truck that makes a lot of noise, so you know it's me!"

Not really impressed.

Top 10 recruiting classes every year, but can never do anything with them. The Steers basketball squad always chokes like Mama Cass in the Tourney or gets run over like security at a Doors concert. Eh.

Baseball, they're pretty good. But basketball and football, a giant Dodge Ram without a muffler.

Compared to the total of 119 progams, Texas looks real nice. To people who know that Championships are all that matters, its the SEC and then everyone else. Anybody can rack up wins playing against the turd's of the Nation, but when it comes down to it... in any sport, at any level, greatness is measured by how many REAL trophy's you have on your mantle piece. Not conference championships, not bogus "fake championships" (any bowl thats not the NC), or rivalry games won. In college football there are 119 schools.... half of them qualify for a consolation game, half of those raise a trophy, and only one team gets to finish the year with a National Championship and a validated smile.

This is wrong as long as the BCS is around.

- can start right away
- 31-19 career record (62%)
- career-best 98.6 QB rating his last season as a full-time starter (2010)
- still young (28 yrs old)
- spent a year learning under Andy Reid and performed well against the two teams playing in this year's Super Bowl
- improves the running game with his mobility
- 2 Pro Bowls and 2006 Rookie of the Year

What part is wrong? Im honestly wondering your justification. BCS's job is to make money and produce one....ONE champion. If there were no BCS, the SEC would still produce the strongest teams, the strongest week to week competition, and as evidenced by the year in year out domination of the SEC vs other schools in the bowl games, and the last what 7 National Championships?

I have no Bias, just for the record. I attend Florida State University, so we can avoid that aspect, and don't know how the system that is implemented right now has an effect on which teams are the consistently strong each year.
