The Chicago White Sox Thread

The Sox are rolling. Their 3-4-5-6-7 hitters are the best in baseball.

13-5 win yesterday, White Sox in a sweet groove, lets see if we can sweep the cards today.

Garcia on the mound today for the Sox

Reyes on the mound for the Cards

Chisox get one hit and win 1-0. Jim Thome with the solo home run.

Sweep the Cards
Garcia dominate for 8 solid innings and Thome wins it for us.
Only 4 hits allowed for the Cards
1 hit allowed for the Sox, but that one hit won the game.

Next series Sox vs. Astros

Contreras hasn't had his best stuff the last 2 games. He struck out 13 in the previous and 4 today but guy is still nasty. The AL has been killing the NL in interleague play. I'm not a fan of the all-star game deciding who gets home-field in the WS. Perhaps the joke that is Bud should look into having interleague decide. They're a 1/2 game back but with the Vazquez/Garland/Garcia pitching better and Jenks being a hammer they're going to overtake the Tigers. They really need Cliff Politte to comeback and pitch alot better than he has this year. I think Kenny Williams will make some deal at the deadline but I want to see Brian Anderson play and get better. The pitching staff is fine the lineup I believe is as good as anybodies but the bullpen can improve. The only way I see something done with the CF position is if they decide that Ryan Sweeney is their new stud prospect and he's in the majors next year, which isn't unthinkable.

CHICAGO -- Jose Contreras was asked following the White Sox 7-4 victory over Houston Friday night at U.S. Cellular Field if he can remember the last time he lost a regular-season contest. Ozzie Guillen Jr., Contreras' translator, relayed the question to him in Spanish, Contreras smiled and quickly responded.
"No, he doesn't remember," said Ozzie Guillen Jr., with both the translator and the highly successful pitcher letting loose with a laugh.
As a public service to Contreras (8-0), his last setback on the mound officially came on Aug. 15, 2005. Minnesota got to Contreras for four runs on eight hits over 6 2/3 innings, dropping his record to 7-7 at the time. Since that defeat, Contreras has posted a 16-0 record and 2.72 earned run average over his last 20 regular-season starts. When factoring in the postseason, Contreras holds a 19-1 record and 2.79 ERA in his last 25 starts overall.

Scott Podsednik hit a fourth-inning grand slam -- the first of his career -- to pace the Chicago offense and propel Jose Contreras to his 16th straight regular-season victory. The win was the eighth straight for the White Sox.

Good 6-5 win over the Astros in a WS rematch.

Alex Cintron with the game winning RBI.

Nice grand Slam by Crede.

Yeah too bad we came up short.

10-9 Astros.

Its almost one of those games you wish you didnt tie in the first place for two reasons

1- You still lost

2- More importantly your bullpen got extra work it didnt need

The team has today off so the bullpen getting extra work is no big deal.
