White Sox trade with Red Sox pitcher for pitcher:

Riske, 29, was 0-1 with a 3.72 ERA in eight relief appearances, covering 9 2/3 innings, with the Red Sox in 2006. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound pitcher worked in one game before being placed on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain on April 12 (retroactive to April 5). Since being activated on May 22, Riske has posted a 2.08 ERA. For his career, covering his short stint with the Red Sox and five years with the Indians (2001-2005), Riske is 17-13 with a 3.55 ERA and 16 saves. He has limited opponents to a .227 average, including a .204 mark against left-handed hitters.

Lopez, 28, was the last pitcher cut out of Spring Training, beat out by unheralded rookie Boone Logan for a Major League job. The southpaw with the sidearm delivery was dominant for Charlotte, featuring a 2-1 record with a 0.55 ERA (2 ER/33 IP) and 13 saves in 26 games for the first-place Knights. But Lopez did not get a call by the South Siders to the Major Leagues

I really like how the team is starting to play. Scottie Podsednik is struggling but the 2-3-4-5-6-7 hitters have been great this season. Detroit is still playing well but they've had very little success vs the teams that I would label the top 3 in the AL in NYY/Boston/Chisox. They're winning games they're supposed to but I don't think they're a better team than either of those three.

Last year we weren't considered better either, even though we had a strong record. It's starting to come together for us. Contreras is a pitching beast. I love the Thome pick-up, his bat is alive. Dye is hitting great, so much for the cast off they called him last year.

White Sox vs. Reds today

Garcia on the mound for the Sox 7-4 5.40
Claussen on the mound for the Reds 3-7 5.68

Congrats on the White Sox Win..my Favorite Player off the White Sox was Frank Thomas..what the heck happened to the guy? :hmmm:

Well, we traded for Jim Thome, which meant the end of Frank Thomas. Frank was one of my favorite players along with Robin Ventura. Frank also burnt his bridges with the General manager. So, Big Frank Thomas is now with the Oakland A's.

Yeah but at this time last year they were far ahead in the division. I don't know what the Sox record last year vs Red Sox/Yankees and i'll say Angels as the other top team; but I don't think it would be as bad as the Tigers is right now. I think the White Sox are 5-1 vs them, i'm just not sold especially with Maroth hurt. I don't think two teams make it from the AL Central but if the Sox and Tigers both make it, I like how the Sox match up.

Nope we traded Rowand for Thome, Frank was a FA, we bought out his contract.

Aaron Rowand was traded to the Phillies for Jim Thome!!!!!!

HAHA...Another good win for us today 8-6 extra innings.

Contreras has 13 strike outs.

Sox putting it together.

Bobby Jenks strikes out Griffey Jr. to stop the rally.

Brian Anderson has raised his average about twenty points this week. Hopefully he continues to improve.

I wasn't to high on this kid, but he has shown he can get the job done.
