Nice shout Chambers ==i remember you posting that and thinking to myself you opened up urself for a lot of stick
InMyChambers said:Everyone is constantly bringing up these ridiculous threads about players and what we should do. I'm so sick of having to sift thru the entire site to find a few nuggets. People need to chill out and realize our offseason will not be hard to predict the rest of the way and it will go like this:
-We will NOT trade for E James
-We will NOT trade for S Alexander
-We will NOT trade for D Darius
-We will NOT resign D Boston
-We will NOT sign P Burress
-We will NOT sign D Sharper
-We may or may not trade P Surtain, but if we do it will be for a draft pick - no better than a 2nd. We will NOT receive a player in return.
-We will draft a RB with the #2 pick. We will 99% sure NOT trade down for additional picks.
I'm not arguing that it wouldn't be nice to have these players and I agree they could really help us. But the reality of the situation is is that we DO NOT have the cash to make these moves. The entire reason we are getting rid of Surtain is because we will not be able to afford him, not becasue his level of play has diminished. How do you justify losing a high priced player with exceptional skills for another when the entire reason you're making the move in the 1st place is for financial reasons. Use your head people, we simply don't have the cash!!!!!!
When you give up a draft pick for an established player, not only are you giving up a lot of money to sign that player, you are also giving up part of your future that you would have had if you drafted the younger player. Also, the younger player would come at a much cheaper rate.

that was my point, the predictions were not bold but obvious. I made the post at the time when there were 8 million stupid threads about how we were going to do things like trade surtain for alexander/edge, sign burress and all the other mumbo jumbo.
the boston thing looks like dumb luck. he was supposedly very close to going to the 49ers at the time and i didn't saban was the type whould would put up with a lot of B.S. with players past. However, that's obviously opposite from the truth: see RW, Crowder, Roth, and most recently Elam.
It looks to me like we could be the Raiders of a few years ago, that is, good talent but a lot of psycho, castoffs from other teams all assembled into one squad that commits a lot of dumb penalties. I think from what I've gathered about Saban so far that he should be able to keep them in line.... I hope...
