The Conclusion I've Drawn regarding Jeff Ireland as a General Manager

Up until now we seem to blame Parcells ans Sparano for this team's fails, I am sure it will become Philbin and especially Sherman failings if this team stinks again. I can hear it now " I knew Tanehill stunk but that Sherman put a bug in Ireland's ear and Made him pick Tanehill". Ireland it seems has no free will to make decisions for himself ever.

People need to stop saying that the good picks were Irelan's and the bad ones were Bill's. Unless he has a great draft this year he should be gone.

Ozzy rules!!

C'mon Ozz...the guy has to switch gears with a new HC and offensive and defensive philosophies and you give him one year?? Isn't it accepted practice that a 3 yr period be given to a talent evaluator?? I'm not laying blame to any particular move since he's been here, but things dramatically changed in January with Philbin's hire...and even if the players won't all fit in Philbin's systems, you can't discount the success he had last year with his offseason moves, despite the oddball offseason, lockout, shortened FA period, etc...

Up until now I blame Quitcells for all of this. He is the influence that has shaped our inability to win games. That's the nature of being the MWIC. Sparano was byproduct of his failure. Now there is a new regime in town. Can Ireland adapt to this ?? Who knows...we'll see. But you can't condemn him on one offseason, even if you assign blame despite the oddball offseason we had last year due to the lockout...

Ireland has had enough time for evaluation, they don't seem to have a problem in Pitt, Green Bay, Dallas, Denver, etc...with the GM and head coaching turnover, **** Jerry Jones goes through head coaches faster than underwear and they seem to make the playoffs rather constantly.

Jeff Ireland lacks those dare to be great moments, Green Bay took a Chance and move Brett out the door in lue of Rogers, Elway seems to be willing to risk it on a gamble, Pitt moved Cower out the door. I mean a great GM uses whatever means necessary to build a winning team and doesn't stick solely to his equations and formulas for risk/reward verse cost.

Ireland is a victim of his own practices and lacks that "all in" moment mentality that makes certain NFL GM's great.

Hmm...kind of like hoow Harbaugh was secretly working out Peyton Manning while publicly telling the media that Alex Smith was his long-term QB and was snubbed for the pro-bowl.

Didn't dispute that.. In fact I actually sympathise with Ireland on this point as if Miami pull out a stunt like this, it typifies our poorly structured front office.. and yet the media gloss over it whenever teams do it.

Yea, I think enough time has passed that we're out of wait and see mode with Ireland...he's just not that great. He tries to be savvy, but he just can't pull it off.. Really, this team hasn't drafted well since Jimmy Johnson. Vontae Davis and Sean Smith have shown upside but neither has been consistent. Ireland didn't draft Paul Solia. Wake came from the CFL. Odrick is still unproven (but he does look good). Koa Misi looks like a bust so far. None of the safeties have done anything. Kendall Langford gone. Philip Merling hasn't done anything. Starks, Dansby, and Burnett were all free agent signings. And we haven't drafted a single serviceable o-lineman outside of the top 20 picks of the draft. Ireland's single Pro Bowl draft pick since he came to the Fins was under Bill Parcells and it was the #1 overall pick in the draft. He sucks.

Regardless of how the Marshall trade and not signing Flynn turns out, Ireland's lack of PR and communication skills are an epic fail. He set himself up to be perceived as an idiot.

When Jeff Fisher defended the Dolphins (for PR) his one line was, hey, teams can rebound quickly in today's nfl.
But we have not. That sums it up.

So much falsehood in this post.
Pitt didn't move Cowher out the door, he re-tired.
Elway is bringing in a HOF QB, doesn't seem like much of a gamble to me.
Dallas record in the last 10 years is 83-77 and 1-4 in the playoffs. Doesn't seem like much greatness to me. And the small amount of success they had was with Parcells and Ireland buidling their team.

Really? Like Ted Thompson in Green Bay? He sure has taken a lot of risks, I mean look at all the free agents they sign every year. Oh wait, they stick to their formula/plan.
