"It was floated to me this weekend that the Dolphins COULD use the two third-round picks and maybe a second or fourth-rounder to get back into the first round of the draft (think Bengals and that No. 21 pick)."

"Plenty of NFL teams value second and third-round selections more than first-rounders because the players are still top 100 prospects who work at a cheaper rate, and have lower expectations from their fan base."

"Notice the words cheap and Bengals go together. Hint…hint."

"Having those back-to-back picks, which was acquired because Miami traded Brandon Marshall to Chicago this offseason, provides the Dolphins some power, and influence in the 2012 draft."

"Ireland has traded away, or made a draft day move in the first three-rounds of the past four drafts, and NFL executives are a creatures of habit."

"That means expect movement from the Dolphins in those first three rounds."

"Question is…. as Dolphins fans would you prefer Miami go up (getting back into the first or second round), or come down (trading down in the first to acquire extra picks?"

Roll with Moore. I'd be thrilled to get a Julio Jones type trade offer from some team in the late 1st. (1st, 2nd, 4th + 1st, 4th in 2013)

Would depend on what they would be trading up to get. If it's Coby Fleener, Kendall Wright, Jonathan Martin or Mark Barron at Cincy's #21 pick I could get on board, although I think Barron, and Martin will probably be gone by then. Otherwise stay where we at or move back.

I think the key here is having some top 5 talent unexpectedly drop to when we pick.

If Tanneyhill is a target and he goes before we pick, if someone like a Blackmon is available then yes... you could have a Julio Jones type experience.

As much as I'd very much like to have Blackmon - getting a windfall could be quite a nice thing for this new coaching staff.

Lot's of 'If's' though, but hey, all we need is for someone to pull a Ted Ginn move with some lower ranked player and it all gets thrown out of whack.

Why? We hit on about 0.01% of 2nd rounders. Might as well accumulate 1st's.

it is rather sad how badly we've missed in the 2nd round since Jimmy Johnson left.

I would rather see them become more aggressive in the draft and trade up but that trade would have to be for an immediate impact player. I would love Kuechly at 8 but if Tannehill is available I looks as if that's the pick. Now if they picked Tannehill then moved back into the top 12 for Kuechly that would be huge. But given Ireland's conservative nature that is wishful thinking.

I remember Shula grabbing (cough) Sammie Smith at #9 in the '89 draft, then when Louis Oliver started to fall, he moved back into the first and took Oliver at #25--hence the number he chose because he was pissed off.

If the right value was there I'd be in favor of it. There's too many lunch pail guys on this roster and not enough difference makers.

why the heck you moving up for martin??? when if he comes here he plays right tackle...i'm not moving up for any right tackle and paying that kind of price...martins more a left tackle prospect imo anyways

fleener and wright i'd move up for that...i love barron but i think reshad jones can play a solid strong safety...although i think barron would be a nice pull...but he's not getting to #20 anyways

If we can get Tannehill at #8 and snag Fleener at #21 using 2 3rd round picks and a future 3rd, then I'm all for it. We could always trade back in the 2nd round to acquire a pick back if it's completely necessary. But, I don't think we would regret coming out of the draft with Tannehill, Fleener, and any other combination of players.
