The Dion Jordan Selection May Have Sealed Ireland's Fate

While I agree with this statement, its not what you said before. When we were discussing whether this was the GM's pick, or a consensus pick between the coaches, owner, and GM, you chimed in with "its safe to assume its the GM's pick". Maybe you weren't following the thread, or maybe you don't realize you can exclude people by not including them, either way this is not a pick that Ireland will be solely held accountable for.

I dont think that matter much. You're the GM, you're the guy in the charge, you have to sign off on it because its your name on the line. We have to operate under that assumption.

You can operate under that assumption, but I'm not. I think that's a naive way to look at a front office or any business for that matter.

Then what are we talking about here? We have a GM that can't even make his own calls on who to draft and sign? Give me a break. I mean, if that is the case, then no f'ing wonder that we can't make better personnel choices. I can't defend Ireland on either premise. If he is making the picks, he sucks. If he doesn't have the balls to really be in charge and take control, well then again, he sucks.

All that said, Tannehill turns out to be something better than a top 10 QB and some other guys come through to be above average pro's, then maybe Ireland buys him self some more time. As of right now, take an honest look at the track record because it has been poor.

Then what are we talking about here?

Read the ****ing thread for christ sake. I come here to talk football, and I'm not here to instill common sense into people with superficial ideals about accountability.

its a figure of speech, dude, calm down. I know exactly what we're talking about here. I don't need you to instill anything. The theme of the thread is that Ireland is on the bubble, that's what my posts have been about. :rolleyes2:

Curious, what is Ireland held accountable for in your opinion?

Boy, the original post in this thread is certainly a testament to the meaninglessness of the "no thanks" button. ;)

Glad I missed this thread. I probably would have thumbs downed the post... However, we all know how valuable hindsight is.

The lesson of threads like this is always the same: The estimates that appear to be extremely negative invariably play out much closer to the truth than the fruity projections, like the early post in this thread naming every draft pick a star, that Dallas Thomas at worst would be a quality guard by midseason.

It's been that way since I joined this site in 2005.

You have to say it was a terrific call that only Sturgis would be productive among the rookies. And that shouldn't be possible, given the sheer numbers and where they were picked. Jeff Ireland may depart based on the current scandal but there's no denying he'd have considerable teflon if this draft class were panning out big. I can't even remember their names.

DJ was a great pick are you kidding? they just haven't utilized his potential

The only reason people think Jordan was a great pick is they look at him and think Jason Taylor part 2. While completely ignoring the fact that he doesn't fit our system. This pick stinks of the Jeff Ireland I know more then you do mentality! Another square peg being jammed into a round hole!
