Yeah, I also think it will be White getting cut.Pretty much where I am at too.
I think if we do bring in a new QB, Mike White will be the one we cut.

You can say the same thing about defenses too. They are not showing complex coverages and blitz packages either. Thompson is an ultra-slow processor who is hesitant to pull the trigger or even take off and run, which he should be fairly good at.100% agree... we should be looking for another QB next year. If we found the right guy, we'd be able to move on from Tua if injuries reoccur. Even if the young guy eventually walked after 4 years, we'd get value from the pick.
That said... I do not think Thompson is a write off yet. One half of work with some questionable receivers is not a true read on what he could do running the 1s.
Too many fanboys see a bad read or a hurried throw in the first pregame and think they've seen it all. Hell... the vanilla stuff that the team shows in public practices is suspect. There's no way that an NFL team doesn't keep their real offense for when there's no press or fan present.
Same reason the Canadian soccer team cheated with the drones...
Just the right amount. Almost none. How many passes did you see either of them throw in a game last year?
Yeah, but Miami actually took a QB in that round (Skylar) ahead of Purdy. Not quite as bad as taking Charles Harris as a pass rusher instead of TJ Watt, but you get the idea.Of course, there's 31 GM's all saying the same thing. Hell, the guy was one spot away from being a undrafted free agent. You could argue EVERYONE was smoking.
I wouldn't mind it. He's still better than both back up qbs on the rosterIm still on the "Bring back Tannehill" train. IF he accepted the Vet Minimum
The backup QB situatation we are now in is why its a good idea to draft a QB every year even in the late rounds. Even if they are just backup material that still saves cap space by not having to pay for a veteran backup QB.man im looking at rosters and it doesn't look good so far out there..
i guess some backups might get cut when rosters get to 53 for an up and coming young but
Agreed... the fact that Skyler got first crack at the job should be concerning to White... then he really didn't look good at all.
If the race is really neck and neck... and that isn't just coach speak, then the tie should go to the improved player over the guy who seems to have peaked.
It would be better for all of us if Thompson wins the job.
Yes... the last time we saw Skyler play in a real game with real teammates, he was slow processing... most rookies are, especially when dropped directly into a complicated offense. You can say the same thing about defenses too. Well said!
I’ve not really been one to jump to conclusions on guys too soon. I think I could be considered one of the most patient posters on this site. I never wrote off Austin Jackson or especially someone like Wilkins. The talent was always obvious with those guys. The type of guys I have issues with sooner rather than later, are the guys you can see that have certain flaws that generally don’t get exponentially better over time. Guys like Eichenberg for example. He’s limited athletically and strength wise, so, of course you will see some improvement with experience, but the ceiling is pretty low. I don’t see investing much more time with a guy that limited.Yes... the last time we saw Skyler play in a real game with real teammates, he was slow processing... most rookies are, especially when dropped directly into a complicated offense.
This may no longer be the case.
An awful lot of the brothers here said Austin Jackson was a total bum... he'd never be any good... and they were wrong.
Rob Jones has gotten a lot better.
Writing Skyler off because he was raw... two years ago is... making a lot of assumptions.
I don't do that.
I'm also not claiming that he is better, only that we don't know yet.
Just like the guys who kept saying, "Wilkins isn't any good... he doesn't get sacks... he's not worth more than 8-10m per year...
Remember those chumps? They hide now.
Now that I agree with...I’ve not really been one to jump to conclusions on guys too soon. I think I could be considered one of the most patient posters on this site. Thompson might be a little different because he has an okay arm and decent athletic ability, but he has awful instincts and feel for the position, and subpar accuracy. I think both of those areas can probably improve with experience, but I have only seen marginal improvement in both of those areas so far. I think Miami will probably have to ride with him for the remainder of the season, but I haven’t seen enough from him to not be looking for an upgrade as soon as this season (unlikely) but definitely next season. I’ve seen enough of White at the money he is currently making. I would cut him.
Didn’t that guy once score 4 TDs in a game for Polk High?
