2001-Griese started 15 games, completing 275 of 451 passes (61%) for 2,827 yds. and a career-best 23 touchdowns with 19 interceptions. He also posted career highs for rushing attempts (50) and yards (173) and scored one rushing touchdown. Griese’s 23 touchdown passes were the sixth-most ever thrown in a single season by a Bronco and ranked third in the AFC (8th NFL) in 2001. He also ranked sixth in completion percentage; seventh in completions; eighth in passer rating (78.5) and ninth in pass attempts. Griese was 9-9 on 3rd-and-1 rushing opportunities, to tie for the NFL lead, and finished the season having thrown a touchdown pass in each of his past 15 games (missed one game due to injury), the longest current streak in the NFL.

2002-Griese-voted offensive captain for the second half of the season, joining Rod Smith-started 13 of 16 games and completed 291 of 436 passes (franchise-record 66.7%) for 3,214 yds. and 15 touchdowns, with 15 interceptions, for a passer rating of 85.6 (8th AFC/T11th NFL). He ranked third in the NFL in completion percentage, fifth in the AFC (6th NFL) in average gain, eighth in completions and eighth in yards.

Jay has never been in the top 10, never made a PRo Bowl and never had a "great season". Griese has the talent. Jay does not.

Yup he had a great year in 2000 with everyone on his offense having their best years. A fierce tough OL, star running backs popping out of everywhere and 2 great WR's.

Since then though:

Compare your 2001 numbers to Jay's 2001 numbers. 60.7% completion. 3290 yards passing. 7.3 yards per attempt (compared to Griese's 6.3) 20TD's, 19 INT's and a 80.3 QB rating that was higher then Griese's 78.5.

Well gee for a QB you love so much (Griese) to play worse then a QB you hate so much (Fielder) just so backs you up.

2002: Griese's QB rating is 85.6 and Jay's is 85.2

Christ that's just so much better that we should go out and sign Griese to a big fat contract and pay Jay as the 2nd best paid backup QB after Vinny since our hit would be bigger then cutting him.

Wow that just makes so much friggin sense Fin-atic.

The ranking is higher but the league rank in yards, completion %, TDs for Griese is higher.

Also, Griese at least has proven he has the talent. Jay has not. Jay has never smelled the Pro Bowl, never cracked the top 10 in any category. Jay is overachieving on his talent and its still mediocre. There is no upside. Fiedler is at peak after six years.

Griese has only been around for three years. he is young and there is plenty for him to grow and learn. He has the talent, and he should be invested in.

Jay Must Go!

Son of Bob is a drunk. He can't take the pressure of following in the shadow of John Elway's horseteeth, what makes anyone think he could stand up under the pressure that playing QB for Miami would bring? He would be under the microscope of the fans and the media constantly in SoFla simply because of his last name. Anything less than Perfect Season II and three consecutive trips to the Super Bowl the next thing you know Brian is out of the league, breaking into Bob's house, stealing his Super Bowl rings and trading them for bottles of tequila at the liquor store down the street from the Orange Bowl, reminiscing about the days when he was ballboy for the 'Phins and Shula told him he would play QB for the 'Phins someday, just like daddy. He will never be "just like daddy" and he knows it. Now the Broncos know it, too.
