I know I know....3rd year is the leap year, bla bla bla. I'm not sure if anyone saw the last two games of the year though.
Anyway, I think if it was my job, I would go on two tracks....to develop my current qb as much as I can - with talent and coaches and look for another at the same time.

If Tannehill fails, both him and Philbin will be gone, however, a good GM will have potentially someone in place.

Unless its a very late round guy I would agree. I would much rather draft around Tanny and see what he has with a new OC and hopefully new line.

...I am going to ask again, what if that fails?
That puts a GM one year behind.

You can't wait and see. That means you don't have confidence.

Given the situation I don't think a Guy takes the GM job that doesn't believe in Tannehill. So if Tannehill fails he will draft someone after that.

Phins will always have one eye open for a QB,but you can forget round 1 - 4 for a few years.Any GM with half a brain wouldn't consider a QB while the rookie QB getting 12 TD's in year one than 24 in year two would be a need.

All NFL Teams in a draft have QB's in their list rated, every once in a while one sneaks though and lands on their targeted spot. This is a bad year to steal a QB.

Ryan Tannehill is your quarterback. Sorry if that's gonna cause you to have a broke-brained meltdown for the next 9 months. Condolences.

How much of the last two games did you watch in a overall aspect instead of just seeing a missed pass or whatever with the goggles of "here we go typical Miami Dolphins" outlook? Yes his deep ball is like watching a blind man think his broken etchasketcher with no knobs is a ipad, but there has been improvement. Are you using the standards of A.Luck, russell wilson, etc..? If so, Luck is still coming along, he is far from as great as everyone rates him atm, will he be great? Maybe. Wilson gets bailed out of bad games by his defense and run game. Chill out with the he's not the answer, even the he is going to be great stuff, he just finished his 2nd season while being cuffed by a O. Cord that didn't see defenses catching on to Go.. GO GO crap, a o line that would've had Manning going in for a 9th neck surgery by season end & backs that could barely block the sun from their eyes during home games let alone a pass rusher. Is RT the answer? No idea, but based on our past, he is better then what we have had since forever.. if we gave Jay F, failpepper, lemon, beck, Joey, etc.. chances to show they can move us in right direction, why not let RT come along? The problem is, a few kids came along and lit up the nfl scene, now everybody wants the next version of that. How many of these thrown into the fire Qbs have rings atm? Maybe the problem is throwing them to fire, as much as I hate pats & brady, he learned behind Drew, Aaron learned behind Brett, gave them time to see tape, practice, etc.. and by time they got called up, they were where RT is atm, but since we had to watch the growth live instead of the polished version, he's a bust?

no you don't draft a qb this year...I can't believe some of you guys actually believe the qb is the problem with this team. If tannehill doesn't improve this year then fine maybe consider it the next year but why would u waste a pick on a qb when u already have one who threw 24 TDs in his 2nd year. we need o-line, Rb, te, lb and you want to draft a qb??????

Every QB left in the playoffs had strong support from their run game, that includes the likes of Brady and Wilson...

Tannehill had one of the worst groups of RBs in the league to support him, and THE worst OL in the league. Considering the circumstances, he performed quite well!

Tannehill isn't going anywhere. In fact, an OC and GM are prob excited to have him. Yes, there are some things developmentally that he needs, but considering he has only been under Sherman his entire quarterbacking career that is understandable. Get a guy like Kubiak in and you'll see that talent really improve.

We have a smart young QB with a lot of upside. Fix the O-line so that he is better protected. Get a creative OC to improve his game and become less predictable, with better play calling. Add an experienced RB to share the work with Miller. Find a better LB than Wheeler.
And we will be competitive.

Kubiak knows how to develop QBs? I guess Houston has a stable of talent at QB. Wait.....:ponder:

After watching Andrew Luck play this past weekend, I'm fine with Tannehill.

7 INTs in his 2 playoff games. It was almost Chad Pennington like.

I don't think you draft a QB this year, for a couple of reasons, unless Maybe, if you feel very strongly about someone like say Aaron Murray and he is around in round 5...Then maybe, I still wouldn't.

The Fins have too many holes to fill to draft a qb this year, and as mentioned no GM is taking this job if he thinks he needs new QB, and RT is in his second year and had an average season and is trending up IMO.
Also, look around the league: Manning, Brady, Luck, Brees, Rodgers aren't walking through that door. Rt IMO is better than almost half of the starters in the league, and you would have to think he gets better next year.

Now, I am not ready to give up on Tannehill. But, there are some concerns IMO. We have been over this a million times, so I won't go into it.
But, year 3 will be very telling. I think there are 3 scenarios:

1 Maybe he takes the next step and we don't have to draft a QB for 10-12 years.
2 Maybe he slightly improves or stays the same and we question if he is the guy we want to hand over the keys to for 10 years. Then, maybe you draft a QB and let them compete.
The third scenario, which I think is very unlikely is Tannehill falls flat on his face next year, and there are no more excuses to use for him. Then you must draft a qb.

I see it playing out somewhere between 1 and 2.
