This site is funny at times. AJ has a bad game, its AJ should get cut. Gus has a bad game, AJ should start.
Welcome to what is a Miami Dolphins fan.

They bird dog every Miami player and expect them to always be perfect, and when they make a mistake then they should be gone, in favor of another guy. Hence the love being given to Couch. The grass is always greener

My guess was that Hadnot was at fault.
To me, it was 2 factors. Trying to block a fast LB trying by a LT who is trying to move over to get to him. I simply think the speed of JF is what made that sack happen, & the fact Gus never looked to his right.

I'm glad that you cleared that up. Reading some of the posts after the game I thought it was AJ's fault that Frerotte fumbled

It's preseason, he wanted to give someone a chance to make a play. being a '30 something year old vet' has probably taught him one thing very closely. PRESEASON DOESN'T COUNT.
Come on. Do you really believe that? Gus is in a QB competition and he is going to risk a black mark on his record just to try and let someone make a play? I doubt it. He and Feeley are being judged very carefully by the coaching staff on every play they are in. Nick Saban is not going to take an answer like "It was pre-season and I wanted to let someone make a play" and I doubt Gus would even make a claim like that.

you mean if 5 o linemen had blocked 7 blitzers?
the RB and the TE were also there for blocking. in fact McMike missed his block on that play completely. The technique of the RB and TE blocking is called "picking up the blitz", FYI...

Green Day is older than you are. That band has been around since the 80s.

Saying AJ Feeley is better than poop isn't saying much at all,

No matter what, if the LT was supposed to block him, being that he knew the snap count, he should have at least been able to slow him down.

Ferrotte looked to his first option which was a dump off to the left. He didnt have time to look right.

I really think Hadnot was at fault, or the Center made the wrong call.

I only saw the play twice so maybe you right but thats what I got out of it.

I have to go with Ozzy, because he give good camp reports. Not sure what else to add.

One of the things that make the Steelers defense so successful is their ability to keep the offense off guard. They showed an all out blitz, but they just as easily could have dropped off. If Frerotte expected the blitz, he should have either changed the play to a max protect since he had two backs or looked immediately to dump the ball off to Evans who was running a quick out.

after watching the replay the original call was about as bad as it gets against a heavy blitz. no max protect and no slant/drag/quick out. the only option on that play was like you said, the quick dump to evans in the flats. what i found interesting is the split end (booker?) looked like he was running a go route. the thing is, it was 3rd and 2 and that's not a typical route for 3rd and short. i think they might have been expecting a little heat and wanted to take a shot deep against cover 0. it almost looked though, the way gus dropped back, that he was expecting booker to read the blitz and run a quick slant, and booker ran his go route and never even looked back, and thats why gus didn't throw it. of course the o line did a lousy job, and even though gus and the wr might not have been on the same page, he should have thrown the ball at booker's feet. that's something a veteran qb does.

in any case the play was a complete disaster from just about every aspect and i hope we don't see this into the regular season.
