The future

That's why I putted "I think", I don't think the Ravens are going to win out, they still have DET, NE and CIN to beat, all playoff teams, and other than NE we only have sub .500 ahead of us...

Oter than NE we play sub .500 teams? Oh cool......just like Tampa and the Bills, right?......oh wait, didn't we lose to those 2 sub .500 teams?......I don't believe we're going to make the playoffs and in te end it could be a good thing. Worst thing that could happen it's for Ross to think we're going in the right direction and keep everything the same way.

Ozzy rules!!

Yeah...umm...that's not how the "control your destiny" thing works. If you need another team to lose, you don't control your own destiny.

I think we should wait untill the season plays out before we start firing people. After the seasons over there is still time for a new gm to run the draft, and coachs will start getting fired.

Why isn't it better to have a new GM on board early so he has that much more time to prepare for the draft?

You should go back and read my first comment.

We haven't controlled our own destiny since the Carolina loss. There are scenarios where we finish 5-0 and don't make it. That being said, if we do win out, very specific things would have to happen for us not to get in.

And Baltimore's win was not a positive, odds wise, as they hold a tie-breaker over us.

The tiebreaker only comes into play if they don't win the division, which I think they will

If the Ravens win their division we can likely forget about the wild card altogether as it'll be Cincy's unless they absolutely implode.

I think we still control our destiny, but if we make the playoffs and Ireland keeps his job we'll be facing a bleak future...

...And if we end up winning a Superbowl with Ireland, we will be in big troub....oh wait.

We need to win at least 4 of the remaining 5. Some 5-6 team will likely get hot, hope it is us.

As far as the future goes, I hope we can model our team on an up-and-coming team like the Detroit Lions. They have a couple of tough guys up the middle who can punch you in the mouth (Ndamukong Su and Nick Fairley). Their defense as a whole is not elite, but they force turnovers, shut down the running game, and this forces you to try and outscore them, which is hard to do. They have so many weapons with Stafford, Megatron, Bush, Bell, Pettigrew, etc. We have Mike Wallace, Hartline, and little else.

The Phins have to draft and acquire playmakers. If we are ever going to catch the Patriots in this division, the handwriting is on the wall. Our offense has to get much better.

Hell if the Ravens beat the Pats and the Bengals back to back they deserve to be in the playoffs

Its a stretch for every team remaining though... ie: 9-7 to get in assumes a 5-6 team goes on a 4-1 stretch. TBH I wouldn't be surprised if the last spot got in at 8-8.

I tried the playoff generator and made it so that I believe I put together the worst possible records in the AFC and came up with a scenario where the Ravens could get in at 7-9...so, what you say is not out of the question...

because jeff ireland has all ready watched and checked out the stats of the players in this draft. He should have began working on the research side as soon as the last draft ended. Ireland has had longer to evaluate our needs and touch base with current recruits. When a new GM comes in you have to start from scratch.

Another factor... most of putzburgh's losses have been within the AFC.

Should the phins win the next 2 games then things are once again on the up.
