I had two initial reactions when I saw ESPN's Adam Schefter report the Miami Dolphins reached a four-year, $49 million extension with outside linebacker and defensive end Cameron Wake.

Wake
My first reaction was, "Good for Wake. He deserved an extension."

My second thought was, "Did the Dolphins pay too much?"

Both thoughts are at play with the Dolphins and Wake. Here is our take on the good and the bad of the extension:

Thanks for the heads up on your article. If the criticism about not watching the games is true, then shame on you.
I watched that Monday night game that opened the season and saw the New England Patriots offensive line go on with getting away with murder the entire 1st half, until the Dolphins defense was playing worn-out by the 4th quarter.
I've been watching NFL football since 1970, I've seen enough to understand this game is fixed. Honestly, us Miami fans were the recipients of this during the 70s and 80s, due to coach Shula's influence on the competition committee. I'm just saying, “Tuck rule!” Living in Connecticut I understand how Kraft kept the patriots ultimately in Boston (the number 4 sized market). It's been no strange wonder, how everything since then has gone New England's way, when they were perennial losers at best before.
Again, just venting here. I'll be looking forward to reading your blog in the future, I just hope you're legit and not an ESPN zombie journalist.

Peace brother!

Have the details of the contract even been made public yet??

He deserves the 20 mil whether he plays at an elite level or not because of the contributions he has made as an extremely underpaid player.

I suspect the contract is incentive laden.

The real question concerning Wake is.......will the NFL ever do their job and call the holding penalties being made against him 20 times a game.

Could not agree more

The Fins did the right thing in locking up Wake. He is one of the few difference makers on the D. His motor alone leads our pass rush and we need this guy.

The good?
We've got elite pass rushing talent locked up for four more years.

The bad?
Still ... We've got elite pass rushing talent locked up for four more years.

Win, Win!!!

That or he is incredibly lazy, probably both

His coverage of the Dolphins has been bad since he took over the AFC East blog. Usually has incorrect facts, ignores facts and always has a negative tone when talking about the Dolphins. He can take a positive story about the Dolphins and find the faults, sort of like Mike Florio. At least Florio is more knowledge about football than Walker.

And this one was even more factual-based than normal, at least he listed the good this time
