The guy's a stud...."fill in position"

On a serious note. I agree with your post but we do have a guy on our roster who sorta fits the "Joe Smith" role that you described in the post. His name? Wes Welker. Wasn't he a training camp cut, if I recall correctly?

Yes, he was.

I know it might get crazy seeing people jumping on players who've been cut but whats the big deal?

Every team looks forward to these cuts to be able to shore up cetain positions. the 3rd best guy on one team might be the main guy on another, or maybe just the 2nd best, but its still an upgrade depth wise.

Its not always about retreads, its about adding depth to your team.

That's fine I agree but doesn't "stud" equate to the player being starter material?

Yeah and I agree with you about people making players look like the second comming of Jesus being a little too wacky but hey, just like Welker whom I had never heard of and I thought, "Great, another supposedly good kick returner who'll get hurt and/or totally suck."...people may surprise you now and then...

But is Wes a "stud" player? I love the guy as much as anyone else on here but I'd say he's an excellent role player but not neccesarily a "stud" player.

Wo, you're so funny  Good to know we have a homophobe here.

There are plenty of homophobes here. I'd almost say mostly homophobes. I never even read the responses after I said I was gay in a thread.

Sure he is :D ....if you are a person who considers Kick Returning to be a "stud" player position :goof: ...

There is a difference between threads to talk football here, and completely stupid, asinine, and illogical blabbing about Mr. John Thirdtimecutandisuck. IF YOU ARE CUT YOU ARE NOT WORTH BRINGING TO OUR TEAM!! We are trying to get better, this does not consist of the same ol same ol we have been doing where we pull in constant retreads! If I hear "sure, we should bring him in, he's worth a look for the league minimum" one mroe time, I'm going to stab myself in the cornea. It's not that easy, nor does it make sense!! If anyone comes to our team from the cut list and turns into anything worthy of a damn (significant starter who you can easily tell was a steal) I'll donate $50 to this site.

The only exception to this is if a team has an embarrassment of riches at a position (see Corey Simon and the Eagles).

The Bears do not have an embarrassment of riches at QB. They simply have an embarrassment.

Thats cool -- I'm not into robots anyway :goof:

I agree with what you are saying about so and so being a stud (playing football.) Its kinda like what we had going on with all the hype surrounding undrafted free agents. You just don't come across a real star too often that isn't drafted.

At the same time, some of you are talking about shoring up a position at which we're weak. Its a perfect example, with Corey Simon getting cut, etc. I thought someone made a great point when they said that a team with a lot of depth might cut a player that could be another teams star. It also has to do with the system they are playing and how they fit....
