The key to Dolphin success

It is true that in the jets game where we lost Hugh Green, i think in the 2nd qtr. Up until then we were starting to dominate the game and I even think green had managed a sack too. After his knee injury we went to pieces defensively. Crunch can you remember who Green's substitute was that day.

You are not going to make me take out the DVD and look are you.? To be honest I dont.:(

Every team in every sport has to have depth in order to win a championship, that's just common knowledge, but I don't think our depth is as bad as a lot of people do. I keep seeing people say how we've looked bad in preason when our backups were in, and OK, but that's beacause ALL of our backups were in. There's never going to be a time in a real game where none of our starters are playing. I think we have some guys that could fill some holes if certain guys got hurt

I really don't think it's about the years. It could come this year, as it could come in 10. But there are things that can take you closer, like having solid starters and great great great depth. I highly doubt it we're gonna win a S.B with any of our QB's, but if the defense plays hard and the QB plays smart, good things can come.

I believe we've had coaches capabale of taking us to the SuperBowl. One thing we have lacked is a true leader at QB. Someone the entire team truly believes will win each and every Sunday. I'm not big on the 1st round draft / sell your soul to the devil type thing. I don't know who the answer is at QB. I like what I see so far from Berlin. I know one thing for sure, nobody and I mean nobody will ever win a SB with AJ Feeley at the helm.

I am not sure we need a first rounder either.Look at the Pats .They striked the motrher lode with Brady with a 6th round pick and now it looks like they have found his replacement with Casells with a 7th round pick. Why are we and 32 other teams missing the boat ?

To win in the AFC east you have to be able to play physical football late in the season in very cold weather. Period. Ask Peyton Manning. [ The Colts are pretenders, all flash and no substance] Saban is already upgrading size, versatility and promoting agression. [ Yes, he made a rookie cry...]. Vets have acknowledged that camp is much tougher. He has been agressive since day one; hiring Linehan and Houck, reaching out to Ricky Williams [ a very unpopular move] and David Boston [[ both of whom will cost bext to nothing]]. In short, Saban will transform a team that has historically started fast and finished badly, a team that most described as 'soft', into a a very physical team that is innovative on both offense and defense.

Pats used a 1st on Seymour, a 1st on Wilfork, a 1st on Ty Warren and a 1st on Daniel Graham.

Good point--as of late we just fall to pieces in December--Saban will sort that.

Please turn off the caps lock. And what's wrong with strippers?

I don't believe that the Patriots are thinking of Brady's replacement just yet, he is only 27 I believe. Missing the boat? I think the Patriots are the exception rather than the rule, I agree it does not matter where you get a good Qb, but I believe teams definately need one. Average Qb play just won't get it done, IMO.

I don't know, replacing Brady should be 6-10 years down the road. Doubt Casells will be content to labor on the bench that long, especially if he shows promise whenever he's asked to play or forced to play.

Excellent point about depth. It really struck me late last season, when I looked at our roster carefully and shook my head in disbelief. It was unquestionably the worst top-to-bottom in the 30+ years I've followed the team. Especially near the bottom. There was barely a position I was satisfied with the 2nd teamers. Then last week the entire second half I was watching Taylor Whitley and Damion McIntosh break the huddle together as left guard and left tackle. That highlighted our personnel freefall in a nutshell. Two linemen you invested a 3rd and a free agent contract in should be grooming for starting spots, or at least provide confidence they can step in with little to no downfall. Yet I wouldn't mind jettisoning both of them and especially Whitley, who may not have one ounce of athletic ability among all that bulk.

I agree.BW my point about Casells was really intrended to say that the Pats scouting system is so effective that they can turn up these gems in the late round.

However the Pats pattern has been that they trade players who become to expensive to keep.Brady seems to be the type who is not selfish and probably will try to help his team get under the cap.But if one day he becomes too expensive he could be traded and its most likely that someone like Casells will be ready to step in.

Thats is more proof that we have not had depth during the last 20 yrs.The late
season swoons we have been accustomed to expect.

that may be true, but this year Roth, Brown, Crowder, Daniels and Vickerson all have a good chance of making the team. If they all make it that is a big percentage of draft choices that make the team :)

I just want your opinion as what do you think it will take before we can win one of those trinkets indicated in my avatar again.

I have a theory I will expound on later after I see some posts.

I will give you a couple of clues.
1-Its something the Pats have had during their great run.
2-Its something we have not had during the later Shula years and ever since.

First off I really think we have the coach in Saban.
thats just the begining we definetly need to find out if we are rebuilding or trying to make a big impact because we are doin it all wrong right now. we need to go get a solid QB cant win without one (drew brees? chris leak? or matt leinart?) We are also going to loose some key veterans on defense soon (madison, thomas, and seau,) we are goin to need soome help i think we did well in the draft with crowder and roth but we still need some solid veterans to play a key roll. and I dont even want to get on how weak are o-line is we need some solid drafting of young solid strong and durable players for are future in ronnie brown!!!
