Torn calf Muscle for ZO. Baaaad News :shakeno:

Crap. This is horrible news. Our team just got significantly worse IMO.

I say we use this time to get Simien into games more often, I think he can be pretty good

Mourning tears calf muscle in Heat loss

It ended amid dejection for Dwyane Wade, regret from Pat Riley, but even more significantly, pain for Alonzo Mourning.

Losing 82-73 Wednesday night to the Pistons was agonizing enough for the Heat, especially when it played Detroit on even terms until the midpoint of the fourth quarter.

But the fallout of the defeat told an even more damaging story.

Riley said the seeming innocuous injury Mourning sustained in the second quarter is a torn calf muscle. That not only leaves the balance of the regular season in question for the veteran center, but the April 22 start of the postseason as well.

"His injury is not very good," the Heat coach said. "I don't know the prognosis, but he tore a calf muscle, so it's going to be indefinite." :boohoo:

While Mourning's prognosis is dire -- with center Shaquille O'Neal told the absence would be two to four weeks -- so were the straits the Heat found itself in midway through the final period, when Detroit pulled away behind the contributions of forwards Antonio McDyess and Tayshaun Prince.

Hes out for a month...the Heat can afford to let him sit out the first round, he might be needed if the Nets make it to the second round though.

ZO is tough...don't put it past him to get healthy sooner.....

A month would be fine...which would mean that he sees the practice court in 3 weeks.

I read Ira Windermans blog...and it is incoherent to say the least.

He called Toine "overmatched" and the heat bench "overmatched"...

Toine scored 15 and played a GREAT floor game.....look at who he defended and how many they scored....He played great.

The Heat bench outscored Detroits 19-11.

Enough of this anyway...the Heat has to finish strong now....get ready for the playoffs and cut some minutes from the starters and develop another bench player for the playoff rotation. Derek Anderson should get heavy minutes..and I am a little dissapointed that in a game that needed some offense...that Derek Anderson didn't get a shot....

he is capable of a minor explosion...a minor explosion was enough to win that game.....play him for 4 minutes in the 3rd...if he sucks in the game...sit him....but don't bury him on the bench in the game.

imo untill zo is healthy they should give simien significant playing time, let him split time subbing for shaq w/doleac...it can only help to make a strong bench stronger just in case zo isnt ready in a month(tho i think he will be,if not then we may be in trouble)
